Sunday was the day to celebrate a house warming and six birthdays in our family. Dave and Sydney (my grand daughter) just bought a new home and we were all invited to come see and do a fall birthday party. Xoie (my grand daughter who lives in N Carolina) couldn't attend so John skyped her on his phone and we all passed Xoie around so she could be a part of the festivities. Below, you see Karen showing her dad how to view Xoie.
The house is so nice...wow...how things have changed. I remember my first house with all our hand me downs. I loved the kitchen and saw that Syd was in her element in this very up to date kitchen. She was busy working on the food when we arrived. Wish I had taken a picture of her working in her kitchen. She was so cute (pardon this proud Grandma) in her apron...slicing cucumbers that they had just bought at the farmer's market early in the morning.
Daughter LuAnn on the right...was surprised by us celebrating her birthday Hers is in Nov. and she didn't think that it would be considered a fall birthday. Collin, smiling, sat next to me he'd sampled the Buffalo dip...and said that it wasn't too spicy, but Grandma Bobbi came out of the kitchen.. with fire coming out of her ears...needless to say...I didn't try it. . We were all anxiously.. anticipating the presents.
We were about to open the gifts and Karen was passing some out and my son, John in the background.
Tyler (my other grandson) smiled down at Grandma. He's used to me taking his picture and always gives a good smile. Dave is just behind him....watching Syd open some of her gifts.
LuAnn got some silly presents. She loves sock monkeys and usually gets something with a sock monkey on it. This time a flashing necklace and mug. That's Grandma Bobbi on the left. Dave and Syd behind.
Finally, it's time for the rest of the presents. There were presents for all the birthday celebrants and the housewarming gifts too.
The presents were just about all opened and by the looks of this picture you'd think that Dave won the lottery or maybe a favorite team scored a TD. No, it was the gift that Syd had just opened. A Roomba...a robotic vacuum cleaner. I have one and it works great. She's had it on her list for a long time. Dave said, "Now, when Sydney asks me to help by doing the vacuuming...I can just push a button and get back to the game :)" Another big gift was a Kitchen Aid mixer. Her eyes lit up when she opened it. She loves to cook and has wanted one of these too.
The party was coming to an end and we weren't disappointed. Grandma Bobbi had baked one of her delicious cakes. This time half chocolate and half vanilla with that wonderful, creamy frosting. Isn't it pretty? What a talented lady. I remember when Syd's mom and dad got married...Bobbi made the wedding cake. With all the things going on at the time of that wedding...making attendants dresses and showers etc...she made the cake. When it was time to cut the cake...I remember my son giving his new mother in law a thumbs up and he has been enjoying her cakes ever since. We all have enjoyed the cakes....usually a favorite kind for each birthday person.
Well, that's about it for the party. We had such a good time. Joe wasn't able to be there, because he was in so much pain with his back...so I went with my daughter and it gave us time to have a great conversation. We met up with John and the boys and had lunch on the way too. So, all in all, it was a good day. I was so tired, when I got home....a good tired.

I see Tim in your other boys. What a lovely time. We usually have a birthday party get together like that end of October. We have so many August, September, October and November birthdays.
It looks and sounds like you all had a great time. The mixer and the roomba sound fantastic too and that cake is lovely.
Love and hugs and happy fall to you,
FlowerLady
I'm glad that you all had a lovely time. I've never heard of a Roomba. It sounds like the most useful invention on the planet!!! I must investigate further (and put in a request for my own birthday if they have made their way to the UK!!) Jx
What a fun time together as a family. I love that sort of thing--most especially in the fall.
Best,
Bonnie
I had fall birthday this weekend with the family. I am the only one, all the rest are in the summer and winter, so it was very special.

It looks like you all had a ball, Balisha! I've wondered how well those Roombas worked.
