Daffodils
Williams Wordsworth
Williams Wordsworth
I wandered lonely as a cloud that floats on high o'er vales and hills.
When all at once I saw a crowd, a host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees, fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine and twinkle on the Milky Way,
Continuous as the stars that shine and twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretched in never-ending line along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance, tossing their heads in sprightly dance
The waves beside them danced, but they out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
The waves beside them danced, but they out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay in such a jocund company;
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought what wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie in vacant or in pensive mood,
For oft, when on my couch I lie in vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills, and dances with the daffodils.
(Jocund means cheerful, merry or glad.)

Hello Balisha,
Just keep on ignoring that snow! Spring is here regardless...
Our daffodils didn't bloom this year and we have very cold weather with a forecast for some snow, as well. Spring was here yesterday and our redbud is ready to bloom. Our Carolina Jessamine and forsythia is blooming a lovely shade of yellow. I get excited about spring every year and it is my favorite season. And today is the first day of Spring!
I love that poem, and there's nothing that speaks of spring quite like those sunny daffodils. We're very fortunate to have temperatures in the high 60's today with sun and a gentle breeze. I'm excited at simply being able to open the windows up again! :) Happy Spring, Balisha.
P.S. I'm going to feature your blog in my sidebar this week, Balisha -- I hope it brings you lots of new readers. :)
I intend to do just that, Noelle. I will read your sunny blog and not look out the window.
Hi Amber...I love Redbuds.I like the twisty natural way that they grow.
Hi Nancy,
Thankyou, so much, for mentioning my blog. Enjoy the warmer weather and being able to have your windows open. I opened mine the other day and that fresh air just filled the house.
