A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Garden Oh So Tiny...by Balisha

The catalogs were coming.. daily in the mail..

Seed companies were telling of each and every sale.

The pages were so full of tempting things to try..

My head was in a tizzy just a wondering what to buy.

Geraniums and asters and marigolds of white..

My heart was beating faster with every single sight.

I turned the pages quickly with tomatoes on my mind..

Heirlooms, Rutgers, and Big Boys really looked so fine.

Parsley, sage, oregano, were herbs for me to try..

I looked outside my window and said out loud.."Oh my.

My garden space is very small.....my list I'll have to trim..

My mind was twirling with thoughts of Joe...I'll have to speak to him.

Could you enlarge my garden with your hoe and shovel dear?

I need to plant my seedlings there'll be many more I fear

Than I have room for... sweetheart..if you could be so kind.

If I had a larger garden I could get it off my mind."

He smiled and gently took the book and said to me last night..

"You and I are getting older...you know that I am right.

Your little garden will have to do..it's just the perfect size..

Your flowers and tomatoes will flourish right before your eyes.

In a garden oh so tiny..we'll have plenty here my dear..

To keep you so contented and happy through the year."

So, I kept in mind the words he spoke.. as I selected just a few..

But just before I mailed it.. I added one or two ;)

Oh Balisha,

You have such a gift for rhyme and poetry...gifts that I sadly lack. Like you though, I would also add a couple more items to my list as well ;^)

I know what you mean! Nice poetry, too. I gave in and bought some seedlings Sunday when my cousin and I went out to look at plants. I bought Better Boy and Early Girl. The selection wasn't great this early in the year. I pretty much overplant my beds and everything seems to grow fairly well.

My eyes are always bigger than my garden. I try to be realistic about my space and about how much produce hubby and I can eat or give away. Love the poem

Don't you just long for the warm, sunny days of spring? I can hardly wait to see the prairie come alive again. Your sweet poem reminds me that it will be here again soon. Blessings.

So much truth in your rhyme...counting down the days with you to spring.
Have a beautiful weekend,
Pat

Thankyou all for your sweet comments on my poem.

We gardeners seem to want to have everything we see... in our gardens. That's why they send us the catalogs.
