A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Our 10th Anniversary and a Special Gift

This is the big day...it's our 10th anniversary. The time went by so fast....hopefully the next 10 will go by a little slower. I've written about how we got together before, so I'll just give a little bit of the story. Joe and I had both been married to other people...each for 46 years. Our spouses both died within 5 weeks of each other and we were suddenly left alone. We had both married just out of high school...so being married was the only way we had lived. We met through mutual friends and decided that we wanted to share our lives. Here's a poem that I wrote on one of our anniversaries.
We were living all alone...the two of us you know,

Our puppies our companions just a short.. short time ago.

We threw caution to the wind.. one fine day in June...

And said our marriage vows... some thought it was too soon.

We've made a home together and lived our lives with love..

Our daily lives have had some help... from the good Lord up above.

Today's our anniversary...we'll celebrate all day..

We'll be there for each other for a long time I do pray.

So when I look at my old hand...and see my wedding ring..

I'll be ready for another year and all the joys it brings.

Through the years we have given each other many gifts, but the gift I received this year was by far the sweetest. My son, Tim, passed away just a month ago. I've had such a hard time accepting this. Through the month of phone calls, cards, special Masses and my blogging friends comments and emails...I am coming along just fine. I mentioned on my blog that I wanted to make a memorial garden for Tim... somewhere in  our yard. We picked out a spot and then Joe surprised me with this beautiful birdbath. It's in memory of that little boy who just couldn't keep his hands out of my birdbath, when he was little. My kids were always attracted to water, be it puddles, sprinkling cans, wading pools, making their sandbox into a pool, and yes birdbaths. I just love this gift and will remember my son every time I fill it and I will think of Joe and our 10th anniversary.

Balisha dear, it's beautiful. It's been nearly four months for me and I still fall apart every few days. Maybe I always will. I try not to think too much..
Your memorial to Tim is going to be lovely. That birdbath is precious! I would love to do something for Sandy. Before she passed away she asked God if she could please work in the gardens. I must tell you my recent dream. This is so hard to face. I understand how you feel.
Howard and I will be married for five years this June 22. Today would have been my 59th year of married to Patrick. I struggle to understand sometimes.
I think the two of us are very fortunate in finding sweet mates to spend these years with...and to go through such difficult times with.

Happy Anniversary to you and Joe, whose gift to you speaks volumes of his love for you.

When I was dating Ken, now my husband, my mom commented to my aunt, "Sharon is lucky to have him," and my aunt replied, "Ken is lucky, too." I think of that when I know a couple like you and Joe, two lucky people ~
