Balisha
A Sentiment
God knew what He was doing
when He sent a gentle breeze
and brought a lovely butterfly
to set my heart at ease.
The happiness of your friendship
and the gentleness of your words
have touched my life in special ways
and now I feel assured.
Thank you for your loyalty
and for reading everyday.
I only hope you find things
to make a happy day.

Fill Your Hummingbird Feeders
The hummingbirds are feeding voraciously now. They are eating to put on weight before their migration to Central America. Sometimes they nearly double their weight.
When they migrate to Central America...they must go across the Gulf of Mexico without any stops to eat or rest along the way. I wondered.....do they come back to the same spot year after year?I have learned that they do. That's why our little nest was occupied for two years with hummingbirds. We watched a program this morning that told about them making their nests by the nest of a Cooper Hawk. The Cooper Hawk feeds on birds, but he doesn't bother with hummingbirds. They are to fast for him. The hawk relishes the birds that kill hummingbirds, so this tiny bird feels safe in the vicinity of the hawk.
People slack off on feeding these little creatures right now...some fear that they will stay too long and not migrate. As I've written here before...the bird knows when to migrate and will go when it is time. So for now, I will fill my feeders with fresh nectar for them to enjoy for the last couple of weeks here. My feeders will go up again on May 1st to welcome these little birds who have given us a season of entertainment.
