We all have lists. Christmas card lists, birthday lists, to do lists, grocery lists...but the list that is so meaningful is the prayer list. People say, "I'll put you on my prayer list." Churches have prayer lists. As we age...our prayer lists can grow longer. How do we remember everyone? Joe said that he asked a Priest how he remembered everyone he was to pray for. The Priest said, in so many words...God knows who is on your list...just pray for everyone on your list.
We pray for the sick...we pray for our military and our leaders and community, we pray for the elderly, our families, we pray for miracles and last but not least the dying.
So many people are affected by Cancer. It seems that there is always someone on my list that is suffering from this scourge. There is one special person who tried all the "new advances in medicine" followed Drs. order to the T, dealt with the many setbacks, watched her family suffer along with her, kept a stiff upper lip when people were around, enjoyed life as best she could, kept her gardens weeded, and prayed.
She is losing the battle and her family is gathering. She is losing her life here, but has Heaven to look forward to. I like this quote... “From now on I will live in a state of joyous expectation.” The way she has handled all the ups and downs of this disease...I think that she will do just that.
We are all on a journey. It’s part of my journey these days to know that my name will one day be on that list, people will love and pray for me. For now, I will keep that list of mine and still pray for miracles.
