A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Happy May Day 2011

Happy May Day everyone!

I woke up this morning and thought of May days of the past.In school, we would make our little baskets of construction paper. Joe and I were talking about how they were made, just this morning. He said that his class used paste out of a big jar for the whole project....no brads for the handles. It was a real project...teaching the kids to cut out the paper..just so. Then put the paste on with a tongue depressor or a finger.A boy named Charles loved to eat paste...I remember. My teacher handed out those brass brads to use to hold the handle on.When we were finished the teacher put them on the sill to dry. There they were, a rainbow of colors, all set on the window ledge to dry till the bell rang. When it was time to go home, there was  a mad scramble to get the basket that we made. On the way home, I can remember filling it with dandelions, and flowers picked from someones yard :) There was a big yard with the long drive planted with beautiful lilacs...we would just pick a few and then fill the rest of the basket with violets. When I got home, I hung it on the door knob and rang the bell. I ran away quick and peeked at my Mom...as she opened the door. She made such a fuss about this tiny little basket. Why do kids love to ring the bell and then run away? It was such fun.I hope that everyone has a wonderful beginning of the month of May. Here's hoping it will be the beginning of some warm, sunny weather for so many, who have come through a cold winter and spring.
