What to do on a snowy afternoon? I still had one present left to finish, so I went down to the basement with a cup of hot chocolate and my little Charlie Brown Bouquet of the Month and got my supplies out. I needed to finish a painting for our Priest... a piece of slate with a picture of the Nativity on it. I started this a little while ago and was waiting for a snowy day to finish painting it. I love to paint on slate. I really enjoy painting on a black background. I haven't had the urge to paint in quite a while, long enough for some of my paints to kind of dry up. As I sat there my fingers started to get into the swing of things. I was a bit rusty at first, but soon I was just breezing along getting my skills sharpened. I guess painting is like riding a bike, you can never forget.

Here is the finished slate. It needs to dry for a couple of days and then I can take it to Church and give it to him. I wonder how many people give Priests religious things...maybe they would like some tools, or books, or a bottle of good wine.

Now that I did this, I want to get down there and paint some more this January. I have my plants, big windows, music or WGN to listen to, and my little fireplace to keep warm. I have a whole box of slate to paint on, gourds, saws, and watercolor paper. I think that I'll get in the habit of doing a little each week...just like I started this blog. A day at a time..
