A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Thursday Morning Thoughts

I made my first little critter last night. An owl...it was so much fun...I couldn't stop till it was finished. I'll show them when we do the big reveal as a group nest month. Felt is wonderful to work with. It is sturdy and doesn't fray...so things don't have to be hemmed. I have made these candle rings for a long time...I love the way they turn out. I'm a little behind...making a Christmas one right now. I am trying to make them for all seasons and holidays.I worked with felt years ago on a big project for a Christmas wall hanging. It was a Partridge in a Pear Tree, that I hung in my dining room. I don't have a picture of it, however. I did a big Grandma Moses type picture for our family room. It was framed and showed a farm with fields and farm animals. I used to be a big fan of anything Grandma Moses. I have a couple of her books and did several picture quilts in her style. I sold a Christmas one that I would give anything for today. It took me hours and hours to do and I got so few dollars for all my work. All done by hand.

My houseplants are looking sad this morning. I think that I have neglected them, so they will get a little TLC today. Joe just asked for breakfast...guess he needs TLC too:)
Gotta go...back later.

I'm back...
Looking out the window...the birds have dug through the snow to find the pile of sunflower seeds that I just dumped on the feeder, in the cold. Haven't seen hide nor hair of that little squirrel. I'm sure he's holed up somewhere warm and cozy..Here he is in the good ole summer time. Bushy tail and all. He's going to be mating  and will come out of the nest sporting a not so bushy tail. I love to see the baby squirrels if they are in my yard.

Chickadees are flitting back and forth to the Ash tree. The birds seem more lively this morning....cardinal pair was here earlier I was wondering about the cardinal pair, that always seem to be together here. Although it's nice to think that they mate for life...their life expectancy is about a year...so many cardinals probably stay together for that year. But if you have a pair visiting more than a year...it's probably several birds that you see.  Here he's back again...beautiful red bird at my feeder....eating his fill of sunflower seeds...not too aggressive, but likely to share with several other birds. His mate is more shy...and although she may not seem like she is singing....she does sing along with him to protect their territory. It's hard to believe that Cape Cod didn't have cardinals until 1958. They were mostly a southern bird...southerners called them red birds, who have broadened their territory because of bird feeders and shrubs that bear fruit. My mother in law called them red birds and so did her mom.

The Juncos are feeding from the feeder. They usually clean up under the feeders, but because of the deep snow...they are changing their ways.

That brings me to the subject of changing our ways. I have had a routine in the morning...a leisurely routine that has had to change because of Joe's surgery. Instead of being leisurely in the morning...I have so many things to do... early on. I find that I move slowly in the morning and it's been hard to change my old ways. But....it has happened. Now, I find that I can accomplish so much more...doing it the new way. I may keep on with this routine.. after he doesn't need me to help with his things. You live and learn, I guess. This old dog has learned new tricks.

I've never worked with felt. Love your candle holders. It would be nice to have every holiday. I am not a morning person and I don't like it much. I would like to change my ways like you. Maybe soon....Thanks for visiting me today Balisha.

The candle rings are lovely. I especially love the rabbits. I remember making a felt 3 Wise Men banner when I was younger.
I look forward to seeing your owl.

I'm glad things are going well with Joe.

You are so ambitious to do all that hand work! I admire that!

I made a felt "12 Days of Christmas" banner--I have no idea where it is now--made it back in the '70's. Now I just cross stitch and cross stitch and crochet and cross stitch and cross stitch, LOL.

I had 8 Cardinals at my feeder today--flashes of bright red everywhere!

I am the opposite
in that
morning is my high energy time.
From getting up sometimes before 6 and going nonstop until after lunch and then the energy is gone.
So pleased for you that all is going well...
