I'm tired....I wonder how many times Joe hears that phrase coming from my mouth? Today, I do have reason to be tired....I was awake before dawn..got dressed,.got the laundry started, made coffee, and then went out on the front porch and put the cushions on the chairs and after feeding the birds...I sat down. We had plans to get the carpets cleaned today, so I thought it best to get out of the way...what could I do? I spotted some weeds growing around the Ash tree and then decided to go around the house and do some weeding....all the way around the house. The carpet man was here for quite a while...and I got a lot of weeding done. I plant things pretty close, so there aren't many weeds in the garden area...just that stuff that grows in the front...llike grass creeping in.
The Honeysuckle is huge this year. We have three posts with Bluebird houses on them...where I have planted Honeysuckle. You really can't see the house in this picture. One year, the little house was hidden and no bird lived in it. I went to pull the vines away to trim them and thought I would open up the box and clean the debris out. When I opened it, there was a snake coiled up in the bottom of the house. He had found a place...hidden away from view to rest for a while. I quickly closed the box and sat back to watch and see if he came out. He never did...that day anyway. Maybe he's still living there, but I'm not going to check. I just got to thinking....why do I refer to the snake as he? Bunnies are always she as well as many birds. A therapist would have something to say about that one :)
Now I'm going to get all serious for a paragraph...It might be sad to read, but I want to put it here.
As I was weeding around the house this morning, thoughts of Tim came to mind. He was such a sweet, loving boy when he was growing up. I miss my phone calls especially...he always had a funny thing to say we joked a lot with each other. You know, we started something in our family years ago. I think that it was my daughter who started it. When she was living in Texas...she started ending our phone conversations with..."I love you, Mom." I started telling all my kids that, whenever we talked on the phone or saw each other...then I would hug each of them. Now it continues with my grand kids. I think it is so important to let people know how you feel about them and remind them often. You never know when it will be the last time you talk to or see each other. That's the last thing that Tim and I said to each other....and I have that good memory to last forever.
Well, as I said when I began...I'm tired, but it's a good tired. I accomplished so much this morning...I think that I said it before...this year I have more get up and go. It seems my energy is back. Maybe changing to a healthier diet, drinking lots of water, and limiting my sweets has something to do with it; What ever it is...I'm glad my old self is back.

Balisha, you sharing was timely
like it happens for both of us.
With all the rain, rich soil and health issues - everything I planted it huge - 3 years and it looks like I have been here 10 :)
I tried to work some today and not suppose to. I am discouraged.
So thoughts if I want to stay here I am going to cut back about half.
Cannot as time goes by take care of a garden that is growing this big. Strange when I designed this small home and imagined small garden surrounding it I had no idea this would happen
But then
every home and they were all bigger
did this. Everyone kids me about my green hands...
You have wonderful memories to get you through the busy days. The tiredness from gardening is a good tired. Hope your week is a happy one.
P.S. your daisies are so pretty - my favorite :-)
Balisha, I really enjoyed your stories today..especially about your son and saying "I love you". That is so important as you say...we never know how long we'll have together.
Your gardening was very therapeutic. Good for you!
So glad you had good memories. I think of you so often and how hard it must be. I am glad you had time among the flowers they are good for the soul

You did have a long day and I think the fresh air revitalizes us when we're out in it, but when we come in, we want to nap like a baby. Well, that's how it is for me!
I love your daisies, my favorite, too. We planted a bed of them and keeping it surrounded by big river rocks has contained it so far. But I have plenty of room still to move them around if need be.
Your memories will always be special and looking back at the gentle loving ones always seem to comfort us. I can't say "I love you" enough to my kids, they get a little embarrassed, but always come up with a quick, "luv you, too"!
Glad to hear you have your energy back. I have felt that way recently, too, and I really do believe it's because I have my sugar intake under control. A nap is still good once in awhile, but that's a good thing! :)
XO,
Jane
Wonderful that you do that with your family. Good memory indeed.
You got a lot done. I would have screeched when I found the snake. Eeek.
The bed with the daisies is very pretty. Many beautiful flowers in your garden.
I love you was never said in my growing up family and I rarely said it to my kids--then they grew up and moved and my daughter Karen started saying when she'd phone. Now--just like you, we all say it to each other when we part--kids, grandkids--even my old school girlfriends--because==we never know. I'm glad those were your last words to Tim--makes it a teeny bit better--yes?
Dear friend. Dear, dear friend! We always, always end out conversations the same way. "I love you." The last thing Sandy said to me was "I love you, Mom. I'll call you back."
The very last words Frank spoke to me while he was dying was "I love you" and he stopped breathing. No words are more dear.
None.
I completely agree that its good to tell the people in your life how much you appreciate them. I forgot to do it when I was younger and many opportunities were lost. Jx
My son has a cute thing going with the kids. One of them will say " I love you" and he will say " I love you more" and back and forth they go :)
Speaking of my son...Balisha your daisies are prolific and beautiful. When my little shasta daisy plant was growing this spring my son weedwhacked it! So now it is about 4 inches off the ground if that, trying to start all over.
Keep telling us about your memories as they come up ...it sounds as if you have many many good ones.
I am glad it was not me finding that snake....would have scared me! Had a cat once that used to visit a nearby creek, get a snake, bring it up, put it on the porch for me. Alive. Ugh.
Hi Balisha...I'm so glad you are feeling better. Being tired because we've worked hard is definitely a "good tired". That snake is probably just waiting for a poor bird to come and check out that house! We have a snake that's hanging around...I see it on top of the Viburnum and Boxwoods. It's pretty freaky!
