A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Our Bug

They call it "the common cold." Sounds harmless enough right? Well it's not....especially when two of you are suffering at the same time. With only one sick the other can take care of things, but when you both are down...it's a problem.  Try as I might..with all the precautions I took....I still caught Joe's bug. It's an upper respiratory infection.... sounds a little more interesting with that name.It all started with a tickle. It is now a full blown pain in the neck We are like zombies passing in the hallway...just nodding because it's too painful to talk. We sound like two seals... barking when we put our heads down to nap..Our house is cluttered with Kleenex boxes, thermometers, Vick's, cough meds, and pitchers and pitchers of water. The Keurig has been busy with tea making. Our lemon supply has run out. We are both on the mend and the coughs are starting to break up. It won't be long before we are back to normal.

I was thinking just yesterday, how wonderful it was when I was young and caught a cold. My mom was there to pull my shades,  fix my pillow, freshen my sheets, bring me cold drinks, make strawberry jello with bananas, rub Vick's on my chest and cover it with a piece of warmed flannel. The fumes from the Vick's soothed my cold. She would fix poached eggs and cream of wheat and that wonderful warmed milk on toast.I had not a care in the world...she would take care of me. I didn't appreciate her for her care in those days, but today....suffering with this bug...I wish she were here.

Lou and I both were sick several weeks ago with a fever, cough, sore throat and general weariness. Horrible when you both are ill at the same time. I believe we had the flu and it took weeks before the hacking cough finally went away. Hoping you two will be feeling better soon.

Maybe it's not a cold. A common virus this time of year is Adenovirus. It causes a cough that sounds like a braying donkey, very inflamed throat, runny nose and possibly fever and/or upset stomach.
It is going around here apparently.

Get well soon.

You were blessed as a child I don't ever remember going to bed with a cold so I guess we just had to get on with it.

I miss my mother for all of those things, too. The smell of Vicks always takes me back to that time. I do the same for my kids, but oh, I wish there were someone to take care of me like that!

I hope you both get 100% better soon.

XO,
Jane

I hope you and your hubby feel better soon. There is a product called "Airborne" that I swear by. It helps build your immune defenses. Whenever my hubby or I get a sniffle or just have that "somethings not quite right" feeling, we take it and always feel better!

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have to say that my husband is not a good care taker even he is not sick. I hope you are feeling better soon. Regula

I am so sorry you and Joe are sick. I was afraid that was going to happen. I am so seldom sick that I have no patience for it. And I still have my cellulitis.

I also start Cold Ease when I get a cold. It seems to cut my cold down to five days. This last one precipitating the cellulitis was six days. But when it was gone, it was gone. No cough left only the cellulitis.

O, darling friend, I so can relate to how you and your sweetie are feeling. As you know, both Mr. Sweet and I had this very same thing all last week, thru the weekend and just today, I do believe we might live.
O, it was such ROUGH STUFF....sickest I've been in 15 years. He caught it first and no matter how I tried NOT to get it, it hit me the hardest. bwaaaaaa..
I so hope you both feel much better now...we still have boxes of kleenex 'cause we still are blowing our noses every few minutes. The head congestion might last awhile, they tell me. i am just glad to have clear lungs, once again.
Love and blessings to you and if I only lived close, I would adjust your blinds, change your sheets, fluff your pillows, bring you tasty, flavored teas...and when your appetite returned, I'd make you Blueberry Scones with lots of butter.
I WANT MY MAMA, TOO !!!

Vick's rubbed on chest with a warmed wool t-shirt thingies tied around my chest and back is one of my fondest memories. I still love the smell of Vick's Vapo-Rub. Mother always put me in a big easy chair over the large heat register in the dining room--I got over a cold in a couple of days! Now it takes 7 days or a week, whichever.
