A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Not Feeling Up to Par

Sitting here in the afternoon and not feeling up to par.....I thought about when I was younger and had children to care for. I got used to taking care of them even though I didn't feel good. Moms do that...we all have that ability to let ourselves go and trudge on... even if we are sick. Sometimes we all would be sick and that was the worst. My kids were always good sleepers and when they were ill....they would sleep a lot. Well, those days are gone. They are all grown and on their own....one has kids of his own and has been dealing with this... like I did.I don't know when things changed, but I find now that I can't do what I did in the past. I have a hard time keeping up things around the house, when I'm not feeling good. We are just two and Joe is so tolerant about meals and the house and he does pitch in and do a lot of the work...but I feel guilty that I can't do it all. I guess those old feelings about being a Mom are still with me.
I have been not feeling well for about a month. It started with the cold that Joe had, but mine lingered on and on it seems. It turned out to be the flu that everyone has had around here.  Yesterday, I was at the doctor's. I had the appointment for quite some time...He's very young and not very easy to talk to. He talks with a medical vocabulary and not down at his patients level. That's my only criticism of him. So, here I am, coughing to beat the band and talking to him telling him about how I feel. He's looking at his computer and I'm wondering if he's going to turn around and talk to me. I should have been more patient, because he was just getting the information down correctly, because he did turn around and talked face to face.He determined that I have bronchitis  and  I was sent home with a couple of prescriptions. One for this cough and another for arthritis. I really don't like to take medicine...especially new medications. Now, with the computer...we can all be amateur doctors. We can look up information on what we think our condition is and also check out the medications that are prescribed for us. I think it was better before computers when we would bring a medication home and just go to the sink and take it. I'm afraid to take the one medication now, because of things I read on the computer. It's the same with commercials for medicines on TV. With all the side affects that they list...who would want to take them? I suppose they have to list them all. I guess that I'm going to have to call the doctor and tell him about my apprehension. It doesn't help being married to a retired RN he either knows or has medical books to look things up.He's always learning and was a very good nurse. He drives me crazy while watching medical shows on TV....he talks and says what's wrong before they tell us on TV.Sometimes it's like a game with us...both of us trying to tell the disease and treatment before the other.
Well, this got long and I didn't mean to bore you all....it's just on my mind and that's what I write about here....things that are running around my brain. I'll continue to take the medicine and hopefully that will be the thing I need. The best medicine, I think,  is when you get an email from a fellow blogger telling you to feel better and have a peaceful sleep at night. I so appreciate anyone who takes the time to comment a get well wish or sends an email. Just wanted you to know :)

Yes I remember getting up and pushing through when you are dead tired and not feeling well.
Take nice hot water and a nice big chunk of lemon. I makes your chest feel better the vit c it has can't hurt.

Certainly hope you'll be feeling better soon. Take your medicine and take care of yourself. Digging in the garden time is quickly approaching and you'll want to be better by then.

Balisha...first of all, I am very fond of you and I so wish the best for you...that you get well soon, that you respond to the medicine.

Secondly, I, too, am frightened by the information provided with our medications as far as side effects, but I think it is mostly provided so that we don't mix medications with others, or to warn us not to drive, etc. The rest may just mean mumbo jumbo to us, but it's necessary on the part of the doctor and pharmacist.

And finally, most doctors are much more knowledgeable than we can ever imagine, and they too rely on the internet where the latest and most precise information regarding specific symptoms and illnesses are at the touch of the finger. That yours referred to the latest, updated info is a credit to him...in front of you may have been unsettling. But I think he was thorough in doing that. They also document all of your medical info by way of their computer which keeps much more accurate info than a handwritten file.

I am not an expert in any way, but I will confide in you that my husband has cancer. He no longer looks for "bedside manner". He wants the latest, most comprehensive information, the best treatment plan and all that research has to offer, which is often through his doctor's connections with other medical facilities via the internet.

Okay, to not be so technical, we all need the bedside manner and chicken soup. But please know that your doctor sounds to me like a professional that is using some high tech means to treat you. Much better than someone that prescribes an antibiotic and chicken soup.

I'm sorry if I'm being too blunt, now you see where I am coming from and I hope you hold my husband's information in confidence. Trust in the medical world, they have saved his life.

Much love and Happy Easter to you and your family.

XO,
Jane

When a cold or flu lingers it's good to see a doctor. Glad you have something to help with the bronchitis. I had a cold that lasted three weeks and found that weak tea with lemon and honey helped with the cough...and it warmed me through and through. For someone as busy as you it's hard to stop when sick but rest is as good for you as any medicine. May you feel better soon ~

((((((Dear Balisha))))))

May you soon be feeling much better. I know exactly how you feel about taking meds. We used to laugh about the ads for them on TV. What you originally had might not kill you but the side effects would.

Love and hugs and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Oh, thank you all so much for your get well wishes. I think I am feeling bummed because Sunday is not only Easter, but my 75th birthday.
We are going to have to cancel our plans for the day...and I wish that we didn't have to.
I have to say that this morning I feel a bit better. Hope this continues.
Happy Easter to all of you.

In the television ads for medicine you wonder when they get done with the "may cause" claims which may be the worse, the medicine or the ailment. LOL!
I know how you feel. I use to go and go but anymore I have to decide which needs done the most because I cannot do as much as before. My mind still thinks I can but the body screams "no" at me all the time. LOL! It comes to use all but I guess we as Moms do not like it much. I guess I am thankful for what I can get done anymore since I have Fibromyalgia now on top of the bum back.
Get better and you two have a Blessed Easter.

They have to list EVERY single teeny little side effect just in case it might bother one person in a million, to keep from being sued. Take your medicine and feel better. I too have the lingering cough. As to not being able to do as much as we once did--drives me crazy, when I think of all the stuff I did "back then"--but that was 20 years ago. "A normal part of aging" my young doctor says--I just want to slap him, LOL.
