Last night, sitting in my favorite wing back chair by the fireplace....I noticed a tiny little tickle in the back of my throat. I had to clear my throat several times." Hmmm," I thought, " Maybe I'm getting Joe's bug .Since he got sick on Saturday, I have taken to the guest room to sleep. The bed isn't as comfortable as ours. I'm spoiled with memory foam mattress and down comforter...a cocoon of sorts. I could feel the scratchiness going down into my chest. I got into bed and pulled the quilt up and started having chills. Oh, dear...and I tried so hard not to catch his bug. I had a restless night...listening to Joe cough in the other room and feeling kind of crummy myself. The only pillows in this room were made of memory foam. Heavy as a rock. I was tossing and turning and finally tossed that medicine ball of a pillow across the room.....got up and took one of the little pillows off the couch and put that into the pillowcase. I could have gone into the bedroom and got my pillow off our bed, but didn't want to wake Joe, who had finally gone to sleep. Finally sleep came and I woke later this morning. I really don't feel so bad today. We will see what tomorrow brings.
Do any of you remember Adele Davis? She was the Dr, Oz of the late 60's and 70's.A famous nutritionist who had some wonderful ideas and a few ideas that were controversial. She was on all the talk shows during that period of time....a high priestess of nutrition. I have one of her books still...Let's Get Well I refer to it so many times just to see what she had to say on different subjects...arthritis, kidney problems, heart and eyesight...etc. I do have a family doctor and go to a specialist for arthritis and macular degeneration, but I look up what Adele had to say back in the 60's in relation to what my doctor says. She wrote books like...Let's Eat Right....Let's Have Healthy Children....Let's Eat Right to Keep fit. When my kids were growing up I pretty much followed her advice on feeding my family. I used a lot of her recipes. She was a pioneer of the natural food movement...shunning processed and refined foods. Now, my kids ate the usual mac and cheese and hot dogs...peanut butter and cookies. As it ended up...Two out of three of my kids are vegetarians today. I eat small amounts of meat, but once in a while a burger or fried chicken tickles my palate. I still believe that cancer is caused by people's diets...eating so much processed food and sugar. So, this morning before I got out of bed...I went over to the little bookcase in that room and brought out Adele to see what she would advise.
Inside the book was an article from the Daily Herald 1999...there was a recipe for tea to drink when you have a cold:
Combine 1 oz sliced fresh ginger, 1 broken stick of cinnamon, 1 tsp coriander seeds, 3 cloves, 1 lemon slice, and 1 pint of water.
Also a tea made from thyme...
Steep 1-2 tsp. dried thyme leaves in 1 cup of boiling water for 10 min.
We watched the Pope leave the Vatican in Rome this morning. He seems so feeble...I guess that he wouldn't be effective as a Pope any longer because he couldn't keep up the pace.I feel badly about his having to leave, but excited to see what will happen now. It was very interesting to listen to CNN. We found out so many facts about Catholicism from Chris Cuomo. He is so knowledgeable about the Catholic faith.
Well, have a nice afternoon.

sending get well quickly wishes to you. I also have tried so hard to not get sick this winter. So far have made it. The inflammatory problem I have is all I need...
Hope you only have a tickle and nothing worse.
Be well ~ love and hugs ~ FlowerLady
Take care. Hope you beat off this cold bug. Big thing I do at first sign of any sinus issue, I do not lay flat. The whole gravity thing helps keep the sinuses from getting as swollen and seems to ward off infections. Lots of fluids too. Be well!!! Hope you get some rest too.
I hope that you are feeling better soon. I too head for the spare room to sleep when one of us is sick.

I hope your home remedy works. Sometimes they're the best! Get well fast!
I'd be fine if not for the cellulitis.
the thyme tea makes perfect sense because chicken soup is supposed to be good for colds and that's a seasoning used in it.
Though the other tea sounds as if it would TASTE better! :) Hope you kicked the cold!
