A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Is it Or Isn't It?

Here's a picture of the basket that hangs quite near our front door. It's far enough away so that visitors just glance at it when coming in the door. It was a gift from my son for Mother's Day. At that time, it was full of trailing tiny white, yellow and blue flowers. I think they were all Bacopa. After a while the yellow and blue stopped blooming and parts of the basket were dried and brittle. I've always had a hard time growing anything in this spot, but since Joe drilled into the brick to hang the thing...I have thought that I better use it. I think the problem is that so much heat comes off those bricks and dries it out so that it needs water more often and with this scorcher of a summer it seemed impossible. So, here I was with a half empty planter that didn't look so nice. When I bought some geraniums for the back yard a thought came into my head...why not use artificial geraniums in this basket? So, that's what I did. It's a fooler for people visiting. Several have commented on how pretty it is....so healthy looking...always looks so full. I have to be honest and tell them the reason it looks that way. Neighbors and people walking by have no clue...especially  when they see me watering it.I see insects flying to and from it and an occasional hummingbird will be fooled. It reminded me of the mayor's wife who had a pretty yard. I would walk by everyday and see the pretty yellow sunflower type flowers...always the same...so healthy looking. When I commented, she smiled and said...artificial.  Have you ever used artificial flowers outside?

No, I don't like artificial flowers. I know it's difficult to keep the real thing blooming during a drought but I keep trying.

Thanks for posting Balisha.
