A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Our 9th Anniversary

This is what we were doing 9 years ago this morning. Today is our 9th anniversary. We married late in life after having been married for 46 yrs. to other spouses. When they passed away...Joe and I found each other and the rest is history...so they say. The day was just like today, bright and sunny and not too warm. We got married at St Thomas More Church in Elgin, Illinois. It was a morning wedding and our processional was Morning Has Broken....my favorite hymn. The recessional was How Great Thou Art...Joe's favorite. Our best friends Nancy and Ralph were our witnesses and all of our families were there. Father Plesa, an old friend of Joe's, was our Priest. Our reception was at Floyd's
restaurant in Carpentersville. Everyone who came to the wedding was invited to eat with us. It was a wonderful day and a nice way to start our marriage.

So, that being said, this is the bouquet of roses that I got from Joe. It was a surprise....they are so pretty. We're celebrating the day by going to a favorite steak house in Rockford later on.
We've had some speed bumps along the way...how to fit our lives together peacefully. We were both attached to our "possessions" and  had a hard time blending our two styles of decorating. Blending the families was another bump in the road. We had some problems, but things worked out. It took longer than I thought...patience was a word used so many times. Now, after 9 yrs. things just come naturally. We have blended everything that needed blending and the little things were just forgotten. Our lives are really filled with joy and hopefully we'll have many more years like this. Now I have to go get ready for my day. Hope your day is great.

I cried as I read this because you ALMOST told my story, except, only one of my seven children came to our wedding, and one friend. No one approved. How I wish I could have had such wonderful start.
Our bumps were hard ones and they lasted for at least two years. Mine came around quickly, his did not. He went from plain simple to cozy and lots.
I am so happy for you, Balisha! How fortunate you were to at least have your family with you. How that would have helped had we had moral support. All is well now, at least we have come through most of it.
We are just getting to our four year mark in a few day. June 23rd.
Isn't it wonderful to have found love and contentment and not be alone?

We have had health scares just as you and Joe have. Howard was married for 55 years, me 43 years. It's been...a time of patience and forgiving and now peace. Except for what is facing my family.
We are going out to dinner also...we married GOOD, kind men.
We are fortunate, you and I..and so are they.
Much love, and congratulations on your 9th anniversay!

Balisha, Just wanted to let you know I think it's wonderful that you found someone who cares so much about you. Congratulations on your anniversary! I've been having some bouts of vertigo and headaches and haven't had much desire to blog or do much visiting. I'll be back to visit again once I'm feeling better. :-) Sue

Thanks to everyone for your best wishes.I thought that I might never marry again, after being married so long to my first husband. We're so glad that we "took a chance" and married again. Life is sweet.
