A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Walk on the Wild Side

This post is appropriately named "A Walk on the Wild Side." The woods is getting by on it's own this year and there are garlic mustard and grasses coming up everywhere. I can't take care of it like before, so I will just have to deal with it. I'm getting used to ignoring things...doesn't bother me as much now.
This morning I went out to the woods to sit and watch the birds. I haven't maintained this area this year. It is growing by leaps and bounds. So far, it doesn't look too bad. The red bud tree is starting to lose it's blossoms and those pretty heart shaped leaves are popping out of the branches. I love this shade of pink. The lilac, that was just a short time ago, a little twig.... is taller than me and this year full of blooms. It has the sweetest fragrance.
The bluebird houses are empty right now, but soon the little wrens will be house hunting. I watched a few birds taking debris into a house down the way. With me being there...they are very cautious. I feel badly that I am keeping them from their work, so I decide to leave and go up to the house.
As I go past the garden by the side of the house, I notice that the iris are almost ready to pop. The herbs are doing well as is the lavender. This is the first time I have had any luck with lavender. It's right next to the house and that's a pretty sheltered spot for it.The Japanese Anemones are getting bigger. This fall they will be so pretty. I have decided to put one of my bleeding hearts in this garden. The pink one. The white one will go in the back garden.
Well, thanks for stopping by and checking out my post. Have a nice afternoon.

Love all the shades of purple in your woods...My lilac is in full bloom right now and makes me think of my mother-in-law, who gave it to me over 25 years ago.

I love your Redbud tree and those lovely blooms. I am going to plant a couple along the woods here because I love those spring blooms from them. Your lilacs look so pretty. Nothing smells quite as good as lilacs.

Hi Maggie...Thanks for reading. I just visited your blog and left a comment. Are you growing lavender in a pot? I did for a while, but had to take it in during our winter and it died. I won't be over wintering things anymore...so they have to make it in the ground.

Hi Ernestine...
Thanks for stopping by. As you can see my little woods is getting by OK without my weed whacking :)
Hope you're feeling better.

Hi Pat,
We have another lilac in the yard, up close to the house, that was trimmed last year. There are no blooms this year. I miss the fragrance that used to come in the patio doors in past years.
