This post is appropriately named "A Walk on the Wild Side." The woods is getting by on it's own this year and there are garlic mustard and grasses coming up everywhere. I can't take care of it like before, so I will just have to deal with it. I'm getting used to ignoring things...doesn't bother me as much now.
This morning I went out to the woods to sit and watch the birds. I haven't maintained this area this year. It is growing by leaps and bounds. So far, it doesn't look too bad. The red bud tree is starting to lose it's blossoms and those pretty heart shaped leaves are popping out of the branches. I love this shade of pink. The lilac, that was just a short time ago, a little twig.... is taller than me and this year full of blooms. It has the sweetest fragrance. The bluebird houses are empty right now, but soon the little wrens will be house hunting. I watched a few birds taking debris into a house down the way. With me being there...they are very cautious. I feel badly that I am keeping them from their work, so I decide to leave and go up to the house.
As I go past the garden by the side of the house, I notice that the iris are almost ready to pop. The herbs are doing well as is the lavender. This is the first time I have had any luck with lavender. It's right next to the house and that's a pretty sheltered spot for it.The Japanese Anemones are getting bigger. This fall they will be so pretty. I have decided to put one of my bleeding hearts in this garden. The pink one. The white one will go in the back garden.
Well, thanks for stopping by and checking out my post. Have a nice afternoon.
