A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Lunch At Crumpet's, by Balisha

Lunch at Crumpet's by Balisha

We met at noon and traveled east to a little town not far..
The four of us laughed all the way in our Jeanine's fast car.
Mary said, "Where is this place that you are taking me?
I'm starved and farm land is really all that I can see."
We girls had been there many times and told her to just wait...
The drive is long.. but very soon you'll have a fancy plate.
The food is just for ladies...so delicate and neat..
It isn't a place for men who really would like meat.
We parked the car and crossed the street and went inside the door..
Such pretty things we were to see...of Victorian decor.
A book that held the menu... it told of tasty things..
The special for today was chicken ala king.
Shirley wanted bread pudding...she was reading of desserts..
We ordered pie and cake and ate till tummies hurt.
We talked of days gone by and recipes of older times..
Moms and Grandmas cooked from scratch their food was just sublime.
We left the restaurant later and made our way round town..
Trying on some hats and acting like a clown.
A clothing store was found just across the street,
More laughs when we saw swim suits that really did look neat.
At last the day was over and we were heading to the car..
We sighed a little sigh and got ready to drive far.
This day was so much fun...we gals decided on the way..
To do it once again when we need a day to play.

Hi Eileen,
It's on Rt. 72 in Genoa, Il. I don't know if you've been to Genoa, but it's just west of Hampshire. You can find it on the internet and there will be directions on how to get there, hours, etc. I just love it and the little town. There are tons of shops...almost like a mini Geneva. We were there on one of the days that they celebrate Red Hatters. We saw them everywhere. The restaurant has a tea at Christmas and Mother's Day, I believe. I was there for one of those and it was wonderful. By the way, you should make reservations.

It reminds me of Just Us in Cherryvale, KS. Neat! Next time I go there, I'll take some photos and share them.
