A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

More from me.

I'm back to say that I moved the feeder from the low hanger right next to the window out to the tree in the middle of the yard. I'll keep watch to see if the possum meanders out there to get up to the feeder. If so, I'll just move it out to the very end of the branch. It will be a precarious situation for him to feed and balance at the same time. Just in the short time that the feeder has been in the trees...the purple finches have found it. I haven't seen them all winter. Right now...the finches are sharing the feeder with chickadees and a titmouse. I put the little red lantern feeder up next to the house. It's impossible for the possum to eat from it. Only the tiniest of birds come to it. It looks like snow today. I do wish that if it does snow...the roads will be cleared soon after. I have a couple of projects to work on today. I just can't get started and here it is almost 11:30. Do you ever have days like that?

I should have known there was a possum poem in you somewhere. LOL! So cute. But dear they really have faces that only a mother could love. Glad to hear you are trying to discourage the little bugger. They can get mean and the birds know to stay away because they will eat anything. Heard tales from my grandpa when I was little about seeing them crawling out of a dead deer carcass. LOL!

getting caught up with you. your little critter is super cute but I am sure he sucks up the bird seeds. that is why ours is hung so high the squirrels were getting the most of the seeds.
love the poem.

Balisha, possums will take advantage of any free food including getting in your garbage can if they can. I have not fed the birds this year because it's a constant battle trying to keep the squirrels from eating it all. Goldfinches last year raked out every sunflower seed into the ivy bed trying to find thistle seeds. They wasted nearly half of the expensive seed I bought so I just decided not to feed but I would rather have my feeders out and hanging full. Fish food here is in a huge jar and drops down in a urn to keep things from getting it.

Possums are a nasty breed!!! They mostly live on dead things--good cleaner uppers of road kill though. Nasty things!!!

A steel post mounted feeder would solve your possum problem.

We have bird feeders in the back that an opossum can't get to. I just wanted a bird feeder up close to my computer room window...for photographing and just for entertainment. That's why was is so low to the ground. It was nestled in the bushes, up close to the house, and lower window level. It was so entertaining for us to see the birds up so close.I didn't take the feeders down in the backyard, and I moved the low one to a very high location. I'm going to watch and see if he climbs the tree and balances on the branch to go out to the feeder. It will make for some very entertaining moments and also some neat photos. He hasn't appeared since I moved the feeder....we are waiting.
