A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Let's Do Something "Christmassy"

Yesterday was a wonderful day. I wanted to do something "Christmassy" Maybe go to a garden center, that was filled with "Christmas," or visit the mall with all it's decorations. This was in my mind since I got up in the morning. We went to early Mass and I noticed the Nativity scene, when I went up to the Church doors. It had been put up during the week. It looked like it needed something. I thought about it for a while and then met up with the chairman of our committee. We talked about it and both thought that something needed to be done. The outside of the Church is so beautiful with all the lights and greens, but the Nativity needed some TLC. I told her not to think any further...that I would take on this project. I got in the car and told Joe about our conversation. He said that he would help. We would go home and change into warm clothes, shop for supplies, and then go to breakfast. Then we would take our time and make it beautiful.
We went to a greenhouse nearby and bought the supplies.Had to go to the back of the building and pick out a bundle of greens and have it weighed. There on the floor, next to the counter, was the very thing that Joe and I had just talked about in the car. A cross, made out of greens...just perfect for the Nativity. We went next door and bought chicken wire. We paid for everything and then went on to a favorite restaurant for breakfast. Then on to the Church to start our project.

Joe stapled chicken wire to the roof and I stuffed the greens into the holes. It went really quickly and was simple to do. Standing back and taking a look...it was just what I had envisioned. Then Joe hung the cross behind the figures. Then we used the leftover greens to make a "bed" for the figures to stand on.

We think that the Nativity needs a star on top. That may come yet. We'll look for one, while we're out shopping. It was cold yesterday, but we didn't notice it. We were busy making our Church beautiful for Christmas. Tomorrow is a Holy Day of obligation. The Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary...when people come to Church tomorrow night the Nativity will be beautiful.

We were tired, when we got home, but it was a good tired. We watched the David Foster, Andrea Bocelli Christmas special on PBS later last night. If you get a chance to see it...do. It was so beautiful...wonderful Christmas music with a pretty setting. I sat on the couch and finished the Christmas cards. All in all...it was a perfect day and we did something very "Christmassy."
