A Monarch Butterfly Story

"A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam.

And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world.

But then it flies on again, and though we wish it could have stayed,we feel so lucky to have seen it."

I saw a monarch butterfly this morning. It reminded me of a story from long ago. It was fall, just about this time of year, and the weather was warm. We had just returned from a shopping trip and my husband went into the back yard to take the groceries into the house. He saw, what he thought, were fall leaves on the trees. Looking more closely he knew that they were Monarchs...resting in our trees. The trees were full of them. As he moved around the yard, they took flight....thousands of butterflies floating in the air. He sat on a lawn chair and they drifted down to land on him. They were all over him....on his shoulder, head, and lap. His smile is one that I will never forget...like "look at me....they trust me enough to land here." Isn't that what life is all about? Trusting someone so that you can land on them for a moment and be safe. I experienced that in the past two weeks. I landed in my family's arms and they held me for a moment. I'm ready to take responsibility for myself now. I went to Church yesterday and told Father Nnaso...I have a new outlook on life now...He said, "We never know what is going to happen...we must be ready." This is just a little story with a happy ending. The Monarchs are starting their flight south. I hope to see many of them. If you want to read more about them...go to Marnie's blog, for beautiful pictures and words about them. http://lilacsandroses.blogspot.com/

Hi Balisha, What a great story about the Monarch Butterflies. They are so beautiful. I love your new header, too. I am so glad you are feeling so much better and getting out and seeing the world in a new light. You sure have made a wonderful comeback from your surgery. Have a good weekend. Love and hugs, Judy

Balisha, your story is wonderful. You wrote: "Trusting someone so that you can land on them for a moment and be safe." Trust. What a wonderful thing. The story of salvation right there: letting go and trusting. Your cyber friends are so grateful to your loving family members. A different slant: I once read that animals do not "love", but they are capable of trust. I do not know about such things, but I do know that I loved my deceased beloved pet, and it was obvious that she trusted me with deep trusting. I don't know if she felt love. I think she thought of me as a big mama cat, or..., maybe she was a little furry people person :)
