I saw a monarch butterfly this morning. It reminded me of a story from long ago. It was fall, just about this time of year, and the weather was warm. We had just returned from a shopping trip and my husband went into the back yard to take the groceries into the house. He saw, what he thought, were fall leaves on the trees. Looking more closely he knew that they were Monarchs...resting in our trees. The trees were full of them. As he moved around the yard, they took flight....thousands of butterflies floating in the air. He sat on a lawn chair and they drifted down to land on him. They were all over him....on his shoulder, head, and lap. His smile is one that I will never forget...like "look at me....they trust me enough to land here." Isn't that what life is all about? Trusting someone so that you can land on them for a moment and be safe. I experienced that in the past two weeks. I landed in my family's arms and they held me for a moment. I'm ready to take responsibility for myself now. I went to Church yesterday and told Father Nnaso...I have a new outlook on life now...He said, "We never know what is going to happen...we must be ready." This is just a little story with a happy ending. The Monarchs are starting their flight south. I hope to see many of them.
