A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Here is the mandevilla that I saved from last year. It is a double one. I had a hummingbird feeder nearby, but I removed it because of the ants. They were attracted to the feeder and then decided to check out the vines. We've had more ants than humminbirds this year.
Checked on plants yesterday and found no J. beetles. Can they be gone already?
We had a bad storm again last night. So hot yesterday and with the change in temp. lots of lightning and thunder. Laddie was scratching at the carpet in the closet again. He feels safe in there. When I am up...he is velcroed to my leg.
I took care of the "girls" the other day. They are two rambunctious, big, black, lab mixed dogs. My friend was on vacation and needed someone for just the day. The "girls" were waiting for me, with their tongues hanging out of the side of their mouths, wanting to get me in the house. The barking and joy that they showed me was unbelievable. I could hardly move through the kitchen what with their prancing and dancing around me. They didn't care if their dishes were filled....they wanted me! We proceeded to the living room patio doors....I couldn't get them open. Oh, dear...what to do? The dining room doors wouldn't work either, luckily there is a patio door in the bedroom that was unlocked. I went out with them and they still hung on my every move. The back of the house backs up to a swollen creek...lots of flooding from the Rock River. Mosquito Heaven!!! They wouldn't do their business...too busy with me. I was licked, jumped on, and eaten alive by those pesty bugs by the time I got in the house. I don't know for sure if both of them went potty, but they were back in the house for the afternoon. When I left....two black heads were peering through the window... looking sadly at me. When are you coming back, Balisha? We love to have you over.

I love your mandevilla vine. I just bought a hummingbird feeder this year because I saw a couple buzzing around the yard with no flowers they were fond of, I guess I need to plant more of the plants they like.

I just came in from cutting back some things in my back garden. The wind and rain did a number on some of the plants. Weeds are growing tall under the bird feeders. I decided to feed only sunflower seed, as they are easier to pull up than the cheaper seed. I had a real corn crop growing where I didn't want it. I saw several hummingbirds down in the flowers. They aren't going to the feeders like before, but that will come later. The are a tough little bird. Not afraid of anything. If they are in your yard...they will find the feeder. Just be sure to keep the nectar fresh.
