Windy Day!

Hi,
This morning we have had some very windy weather. Rain off and on all night. Lightning and thunder scared our springer spaniel, Laddie into the closet. He digs a hole in the carpet to make a safe place to lie down. Then he lies there, shivering until we find him and bring him near our bed ...for comfort. Poor animal...my little dog Maggie was the same way. Now he follows our every move. The wind has been strong this morning. 65 MPH at our airport. When it stopped, I went back to survey the damage. A tree was uprooted and many large branches were down in our woods. One of the branches had a bird house hanging precariously. I removed it and put it on the picket fence nearby. I hope that Mom will find it, because there are baby birds inside. They must have had the ride of their lives at 10 AM. I guess this is nature's way of thinning dead wood out of our of trees. The tree that came down was flourishing....but a bit top heavy..I thought. I think that the foliage acted as a sail and the wind caught it. I think this was a warning for me....STAY OUT FROM UNDER THOSE TREES, WHEN IT'S WINDY!
