Here are the new babies. They were eggs just a short time ago. Mama Dove left the nest for a minute and I snapped this very quickly. They are flopping over the edge of the nest. Doves never make a good nest. They fall out of trees all the time. I have picked them up and actually put the babies back in. The mother always comes back and continues "mothering"I got my work done at the edge of the woods yesterday. It looks pretty good now. At least we can see what's planted behind the tall grasses.
It is overcast this morning...when is Mother Nature going to give us some continuous warm weather? Crazy...a down comforter at the end of May.
The seeds have sprouted and we will have nasturtiums. Yesterday the little neighbor girl was planting sunflower seeds all over my yard.
The catbird has been eating grape jelly again. Has anyone seen them do this before? We are using jars and jars of jelly. Even the sparrows like it. The hummingbirds are still not coming as much as usual. Maybe I will make a new batch of juice for them....see if they like it better. Oh, what we won't do for our birds!
Well, I'm off to the garden center. Going to find one of those hanging, upside down, tomato growers for my hubby as part of his Father's Day gifts. He used to have a huge veggie garden, but we have to slow down a bit when we hit the age of 70...so that's a thing of the past. He still likes to do some gardening besides the lawn work...so maybe this will be fun for him...and maybe a few nice BLT's for lunch.

I found you on Blotanical. You have a very good start on your blog/journal. They are a wonderful way to keep up with what you have done in the past. I find myself referencing mine all the time for dates on when I started this or bought that. Again great start and keep up the good work! I'll be checking back. Mike
I just now found something else you and I have in common: Gladys Taber. I have read some of her books and back in the '60's I enjoyed the magazine articles she wrote titled "Butternut Wisdom".
Recently when searching for something on Google, I came across this web site. I'm not sure who wrote it, but wasn't one of her granddaughter's named Anne?

I miss Gladys, and sometimes I feel as though I'm talking to her and sometimes as I write my posts, I feel as if I am writing to her.
Did you ever read the book about her father? Can't recall the title, but if you want to know I could probably figure it out from my notes.
I hope your husband enjoys growing the tomatoes upside down. I have heard others say they were going to try that. Let us know how it goes.
