My zinnias, profusion apricot, will blend with the orange lilies that were here, and also...I thought that they would look good with all the purples in my garden.

Here is the geranium that I picked out. I am going with more purples and apricots this year.

Asters for the back garden.

Well, here goes again. Last year, in the fall, I said that I wasn't going to start anything from seeds this year. We have had a nasty winter and I haven't seen the ground since before Christmas. So, here it is a nice sunny day (but cold) and I have the urge to get my hands in some dirt. I can't go out and garden, my houseplants have been pampered to death, my amaryllis are fading, bloggers in warmer climes are boasting...so after much thought, I decided to plant seeds after all. Yesterday, I went down to the basement and starting getting ready. Joe put a thermometer down there and it registered 67 degrees....since we put in heating vents. I have a big north facing window. I cleared the shelving unit of plants and put them on a table in front of the window. The shelves have fluorescent lights. My seedling trays will be on those shelves. Now, I have to wait for the seeds to arrive. Last year I planted a bit too early, so I will just have to be patient this year. I am wondering how long it takes geranium seeds to germinate? Why did I tell all that I was going to try these flowers? You all will be watching their progress. The pressure is on and the seeds aren't even here yet. Those 10 little seeds that I bought don't know what they're in for.

What a great selection you've chosen! Orange with blue or purple is one of my favourite colour combinations in the garden. Winter is speeding past us, I think -- here it is, about to turn the page to February already. It will soon be time to sow those little beauties. :) Good luck with them!
Those look like some wonderful color combination's. Love your choice of zinnia's they will look so pretty with purples.
I planted too early last year too. This year I'm winter sowing which means you sow the seed in containers in midwinter and put the containers in a sheltered place outside.

I love your colors you picked. Purple flowers of any kind are my favorites. I wish I had a place to grow stuff from seeds. It was -4 here Sat.morning and 11 this morning so it will be a while before anything is going to grow here. One year, I ordered a bunch of seeds off e-bay. They were cheap and they grew well. I also ordered lily of the valley from e-bay and it has grown like crazy.
Sounds like Spring - I save a lot of seeds and wonder how they will do in the country garden.
