We had a visitor from Church this morning. A Eucharistic minister came and gave Joe and I communion. We visited a while and then he left. I made Joe's breakfast and then decided to try something that I had seen on Facebook. A Washington mother and her son were out blowing bubbles on a very cold day and she posted pictures of the frozen bubbles. Well, that's all I had to read...I had the bubble wand that my daughter gave me as part of my birthday present this year. We had a good time on that day...blowing bubbles like we did when she was little. I have kept it full of soapy water and in a handy place. I bundled up like an Eskimo and trudged out to the front porch. I had my camera and wand....I was ready for anything. I tried making the bubbles, but it really is too warm right now for them to freeze instantly. So, it was a flop.I got a few strange looks from people out shoveling.Maybe they think I am losing my grip. I'm going to try later today, when the temps start plunging. I've always been fascinated by experiments like this. High school science class was so much fun for me.
I'm planning on taking down the tree during the Green Bay game. I don't usually pull for Green Bay, but since the Bears are out...Green Bay is my team to cheer on.
Our neighborhood is plowed out...the guys have been doing a spectacular job of keeping our streets cleared. They go by many times a day...starting at 4am. Doesn't bother me being awakened at 4....I know that these guys are working so hard to make the roads safe for us.
Our meal will be simple today. Baked potatoes, broccoli, salad, and fried chicken breasts. No time to fuss as I have to stop procrastinating about the tree.
I so appreciate phone calls from friends right now....they keep me laughing.
Balisha
a note....if my bubbles freeze, I'll be back with pictures :)
Another note....4:30 pm and dressed so warm...4 deg and tried to make bubbles. The solution in the wand got slushy and I couldn't make bubbles.....so the experiment failed. Got a great picture of snow blowing off the roof.

I wish I had a bubble wand. I'd try that too. Suppose to be super cold tonight with scary wind chills. I think the wind would make it hard for me to make bubbles. If you get that to work, I hope you get good photos!
Your bubble wand is pretty neat! I think we could get the bubbles to freeze just walking into our unheated garage, it is so cold here!
Sounds interesting, Balisha. Do take photos if it works.
I've never heard of a bubble wand, but that sounds like such fun, and if you could get frozen bubbles that would really be something.
Keep warm ~ FlowerLady
I think your neighbors probably thought you had really lost your mind, Balisha!! I think it's very interesting...maybe you'll have better luck tomorrow when it's 15 below. I have a doctor appointment about 50 minutes away in the southwest suburbs and everyone is advising me not to go. I won't be able to give 24 hour notice so I don't know if I'll be charged for an office visit.
Hubby is watching the Packers as well. I know I should gather up my Christmas things but I have been putting it off, too. In actuality, it probably won't take more than and hour and a half.
By the way, I visit Ernestine once in awhile when I see her comment on your blog-such an interesting lady. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a "Follow" icon. How do you keep up with her?
XO,
Jane
Maybe we need the bottle of bubble stuff and that little ring thingie to blow it through? I'd run out and get one, but the 13.5 inches of snow we have right now is preventing me from the science project. I too loved science. Remember Mr. Wizard?
It's too cold to go out and use the wand. I hoped that it would work, but I guess it needed super cold weather like today.
Jane..I keep favorite blogs on my sidebar and have them arranged so that the newest posts are automatically first in order. I just have to look there and see when she posts then click on it.I don't think that your doctor will charge you...everything is closed in our area.
The bubble experiment sounds like fun, but it's too cold here this morning for me to even venture outside the door. The poor dogs took a few steps outside, did their business, and came back in immediately:)
I put away the Christmas decor this weekend, but still have a big tree down in the basement. No one goes down there usually but the grandkids, so it might stay up until February:) Hope you're staying warm, Balisha!
LOL now I wish that I had some of the grand kids bubbles left from summer ...though as cold as it is here I wouldn't be blowing bubbles for long! :)
