A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

My New Year's Eve Message

Everyone's doing a year in review type post now. I really don't want to review my last year. It was probably the worst year for me. I will never forget it, but I want to tuck it away in the recesses of my mind, so I can get on with what is left of my life.
Looking ahead to the next year, as I put away 2013, I find myself aging faster than I want to admit. Maybe my first book purchase of the new year should be  "Healthy Aging for Dummies".I have a couple of these dummy books and have found them quite helpful. I'm sure the book holds all the secrets for waltzing through old age. Waltzing is more my style now...my cha cha days are over :) I knew that I was getting old when I heard myself say a big....unhh...when rising from my chair.I tried not to say that...knowing that it meant that it was more of an effort for me now. Walking changed too.....I used to be able to walk so briskly...not looking at the ground. Now, I am careful when I step "lively." I could take two stairs at a time without holding the railing....not now. One step at a time with that old familiar... unhh, when I get to the top. Sleep used to come easily...but now, I sleep more lightly and I'm awake before the birds. The only thing that hasn't changed is my appetite. Darn!
So, coming into a new year will be a time of wonder for me. I wonder if I will still be able to keep my gardens, I wonder if we will want to stay in this house. I wonder if we'll be here to greet next year.
Guess I had better stop wondering and start my day. My life is full of habits now. My morning ritual is easy. I awaken at the crack of dawn, say a couple of prayers, lie in bed awhile till I see a little light coming through the blinds, get into my robe and go to the kitchen...take my pills, make something to drink and the come here to the computer to see what Shoebuy is selling, what Land's End special is on for today, read an email from some political party, find out who's in the news, maybe 15 other stores trying to sell me something, answer my personal emails, then the best part...going to my blog and see who has visited me. I love this part of my morning. I take time to visit a few people and write a few comments...see what everyone is doing, and then most pleasant thing... trying to write an interesting post about most anything. I love being connected to the world like this....I can visit Kansas, Tennessee, Ohio, a suburb of Chicago, Norway, California... by just hitting the keys.I'll leave a comment and sooner or later you will answer, either in a comment or an email and make my day. If you don't answer or post for awhile...I worry about you. You are almost like family.
I want to thank all of you for making my days enjoyable. I never could have imagined, when  my daughter gave us our first computer.... several years ago...that I would find such pleasure in my day.I hold each of you in my heart...
Happy New Year, Balisha

Bless you! I am sure things are better than you think. I have had years that I was glad to see the back of but the power of blogging and looking back has helped me see the positives in the year. I hope 2014 gives you peace and joy x

I could have written your blog for today, Balisha. All those things you mentioned also apply to me. But getting old is not for sissies. I try to enjoy each day and stay busy.

I love reading your blog. You always have such interesting thoughts.

And I suffer with you when you suffer. But God is good and he will always be right there with us as we continue our journey through life.

Losing my son is what made the year my worst. It's getting better, but Christmas was hard this year, because of that and anticipating Joe's surgery I'm indeed thankful for the "good things" and look forward to a good year ahead.

I always feel better after I read your entry for the day! You have a positive attitude which is a good way to approach any part of life. . .especially these "golden years!"

My morning routine just like yours--except I have cats to feed before I plop in front of my computer and yes, I too, wonder if I will see next New Year's. I have no need to write a "Year In Review"--I lived it and once was quite enough, thank you very much. Love's ya--

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Balisha! :)
I know that last year was full of grief in so many ways and there are no right words to comfort a person in regards to your son ...also having Joe's surgery right after Christmas...ugh.
And I doubt that he's dancing around the house just yet..and the recuperation can't be easy.
But as to getting old, you probably had more energy in your garden last year than most of us...and your gardening stories and everyday life stories always bring delight to your readers. So thank you for being such a great blogger and thank you for not doing "My Top Ten" ha ha ha...I was new to blogging last year and saw them springing up everywhere and wondered how people got so organized right after Christmas to prepare them! I've got a houseful coming for New Years dinner tomorrow so I am only checking on a few blogs while eating microwave pizza in between baking and cleaning and guess what. The grandkids are coming over soon to mess up what I just cleaned :)

Can relate to much you share.
This was a bad year for me also.
Much we are slower at
some we might have to give up
but God is good
and like you
each day begins before it is light
with my prayer
and thankfulness
asking for wisdom and some more
days of quality and sharing less health issues with my loved ones.
Looking forward so much to warmer days and seeing what will come up in the garden...
Love you, From one who lives at the edge of the woods in Northern
Tennessee :)

Happy New Year.
Enjoy your relaxed wake up time. I can snooze the alarm once and then have to move, move, move. Speaking of moving, keep moving!
Be well and God bless.
I enjoy your blog as well.

Balisha,

I look forward to reading each of your posts. You have been through so much this year and have persevered.

Your beautiful plants and flowers are amazing, and you always inspire me when I read all that you are able to accomplish in a day in your gardens.

May 2014 be a wonderful, Happy New Year for you and Joe!

I agree, never would I have believed the difference six years of blogging has made. A number of visits from The States to my home. Meeting bloggers, seeing how many people around the world live. Sharing in their lives. Becoming a pretty good photographer through noticing more than I would have before, to name but a few.
