A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Judy

I just got a Caring Bridge journal entry from my cousin, Judy in Denver. Judy is fighting cancer in a hospital in Denver. She has Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and has just had a stem cell infusion. Her stem cells came from France...Judy joked that she would be speaking French...OOO La La...she said.  Caring Bridge is an online support group to keep family and friends in touch with Judy as she takes the steps to get well. I get an email whenever her friend, Joanie, posts some news from Judy.
She's my cousin...younger than me. She lived in Evanston and then moved to Colorado. Mom and Dad took care of this little girl when she was two years old.I was about 13 at that time. Her family took a vacation to Yellowstone and didn't think that they should take Judy. Mom offered and Judy came with all the equipment that a young child needed. She fit in with us just fine and what a great time we had playing dress up with her. Tiny little red head all in frills when Mom and I would take her on the bus to go "downtown" Little redhead girl...sitting in the playpen watching Dad garden. I still can see her with an earthworm in her hand...just about to put it in her mouth. The time went by so fast and we were so sad when she left.
We haven't been real close cousins because of the distance between us, but when we talk or get together it's like we had just been together. We keep up with each other with Judy's famous Christmas letters.
This cancer news was so hard to take. I hate for her to be going through this, but that's the way life is. You never know what battle you are going to have to face. She is a fighter and has such a positive outlook. When I got this picture this morning...I had to post it here. She's eating DQ....did my heart good to see this little redhead girl enjoying something as simple as DQ
She's in my constant prayers.
Balisha.

Is that the same as a bone marrow transplant? You get it thought an infusion. I hope your cousin does well and so glad she found a match.

I'm kind of a newbie here, but I think so. I know that she got 3 rounds of chemo after hospitalization and then they did the transplant. She has a cold right now...

I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin, Judy. Glad she was feeling well enough to enjoy some DQ! My husband grew up in the town of Evanston. :-)

She looks really good! They have great progress with bone marrow transplants. We will pray for her to find remission so she can truly enjoy next spring!

Balisha, all good thoughts to your cousin!
I got the same diagnosis in 1981 at the age of 50. Still here, perking along. (Do the math!)

My doctor at the time said, "If you have to have one, this is the one to have." In other words, very treatable.
