A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Favorite Thing

Today it's easy to find a favorite thing. Today would be my Dad's 98th birthday. He passed away a few years ago and we miss him so. He was the best Dad a girl could have. I remember when I was little...sitting in the big brown chair on his lap, while he read to me. He had to work the night shift...so he always read to me before going to work. We would listen to H. V. Kaltenborn on the radio, giving the news and then he would  leave for work. He was a gentle soul...so caring with the babies in the family. I have pictures of him with all my babies, taken from behind...their little bald heads showing on his shoulder while he walked them.He once asked a couple who were eating in a restaurant ..with a crying baby, if he might walk the baby for them. He picked up the little one and walked around the restaurant...so the couple could enjoy their meal.  A family picnic would find him providing a taxi service home for my little daughter...who didn't want to go potty in the outhouse.Trips to kiddy land and fishing with them and his wonderful car rides to Lake Geneva. I miss eating out with Mom and Dad. He loved to go to lunch...try new restaurants... and we did go every week. When his days behind the wheel were over...I would take them every week..He was a poet...sitting in his little room with his old fashioned type writer...writing a poem for each of us on our special days. .Mom was the apple of his eye...and he kept his marriage vow...in sickness and in health....when she had Alzheimer's disease. He took care of her for 10 yrs. with that awful disease. The last year of her life, when she had to go to a rest home...he visited everyday......always at lunch time. He was really a saint on earth. So, happy birthday, Dad from all of us....especially me.

OH what a wonderful nurturer..I especially love the part about him walking the babies in the restaurant to give the parents a break!

I am thinking that YOU must have given him a hard time when you were a baby so he wanted to spare others LOL! :) Just kidding, Balisha but I could not resist :)
