The first Junco of the season at our house. Just this morning. It's a welcome sight for me....although seeing this little bird means that winter is coming. He was busy cleaning up the seed on the deck floor...scattered by other birds. This is my favorite little bird....they tough it out here all winter and even on the coldest days...he's here to cheer me. Welcome little friend~

I am enjoying your blog and all this talk of birds reminds me of being a young girl at my grandmothers. SHE had a room with long wide windows and a chair with a bird book next to it and would name all of the birds to me. My sister and I always fed the birds when we grew up and moved to our own homes...but the Junco was one of her favorites and so your post brought back a pleasant memory
