A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Field Notes and Fall Migration

I found a new website this morning. I was researching hummingbirds and their migration. I had thought that they were gone from here, when one female appeared just yesterday at the feeder. I guess I'll leave the feeder up for a while yet. So, this morning I wanted to read a little more about them. I found this very cool website...where you can follow their migration south. Here is the email address if you would like to check it out http://www.learner.org/jnorth/maps/Maps.html They follow other birds too and the monarch butterfly. I joined the site and put in my information and went to check on the map...for my location. We haven't seen a robin in a long time and I was surprised that other people in Illinois, near Chicago, still were seeing them. There was no information on Juncos, however. I wish that they would track these little favorite birds too...I am on the watch for these little ones who stay here through rain, snow, sleet and all kinds of bad weather. Our tough little Juncos will be here soon.My neighbor, who lives in Minnesota in the summer, will be home in a week or so. Snow is predicted for them today and when the snow flies...they head south for home. Glad that they are coming home early...they will get to see our fall color show here in Byron.

Yes, I enjoyed this sight & more so the hummers. They totally fascinate me. Hard to imagine the travels they make for the winter.
Have a great weekend ~
