A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Cleaning Lady?? Not Here.

Good morning. A pretty day beginning after a rainy one yesterday. We spent a rather lazy day yesterday. Phone calls and just lazing around. Today is here and I will try to clean the bedroom. I don't know why, but our bedroom is always the last to be cleaned. I guess it is a room that can be shut off when people stop by.
When the doctor said no vacuuming to me, Joe spoke up and said that he would do the vacuuming. It started to cause a problem here...I hated to ask him to do it and he didn't do it unless I asked. I guess men just don't see the dirt and if they do...it doesn't bother them.. Finally after a few weeks, I thought that something needed to be done. I didn't want a cleaning lady...so what was the answer? While watching Cook's Country one Sat. morning, I saw a review on the Roomba. My son and his wife had one and loved it. I never really felt like a machine like robot could do a good job. After mentioning it to Joe...he got online and ordered one. (can you tell how much he disliked vacuuming?) The day arrived when it was delivered. We took it out of the box and read the directions. Easy peasy we thought. Popped in the battery and pushed the button. Roomba was in action. Moving methodically around the room...up close to the baseboards...oh boy this was great. Roomba was mapping out his plan for cleaning this room each time the button was pushed. He kept bumping into furniture and swirling around like a whirling dervish. We just let him roam where he wanted the first time. The next time I used it was in the bedroom...I had to get everything out from under the bed first. This was a place where I knew dust was collecting. We have a king size bed in a med. sized bedroom and it's so hard to clean under the bed. Besides we are both at an age where it is hard to get up and down. I pushed the button and Roomba went right to work. I swear the little guy came out coughing from under that bed. I know that I had to empty the dust container  a couple of times. I was down on my knees checking out his job....good job I almost said to him. Wanted to give him a high five. Since that first week I have used Roomba a couple of times a week. The baseboards have never been so clean. We are so pleased with this cleaning tool. It has to be cleaned pretty much every time, but that is nothing compared to what this machine does. After using it for a couple of weeks, my daughter (who thinks her mother's house is immaculate) ordered one. She said, "If you like it...it must be good and I wanted one." She had it delivered to her house in Wisconsin and took it back to her DC house in her backpack. As she went through security...they all looked it over.....She could have given them a demo in the airport.

The next thing that is new to me is the Swiffer duster. While I was taking care of Joe's kids house, cat and fish this summer....I noticed this duster in Brandon's bedroom. I had to wait a bit while feeding the fish and had time to put it to good use. What a little gem this thing is. It gets into narrow places, in back of things, on top of things every hard to get at surface. I literally dusted his room with it. Since that day, so many have said that they used one and liked it. Why didn't some of my friends or family tell me about it? I went right out and bought one. The replacement dusters are quite pricey, so I take care and use it for only those hard to get at places. After dusting...a shake out the door and between this and the Roomba, my housekeeping is so much easier.

So, now I have to get going. The bedroom waits and so is my pal Roomba. I find myself talking to him sometimes. I've asked others if they talk to them too....they tell me that they have even named their Roombas. I checked online and found many listings for clever names for Roomba. If mine had a name it would be Jeeves...I love to see a man at work.

Brilliant! Good for you! A family in our neighborhood has one. I watched it one day. Cute!

I have always wondered if they really worked. Now, I want one of course. I am tall also and don't care for short men, but if he works that well--he might be a keeper!
