A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Mother Nature is Such a Tease

I heard the rumble of thunder early this morning. Haven't heard that for a long time. So, I got dressed and went out on the porch... to watch the rain come. The birds were flying around...singing a joyful song. They must be anticipating a shower too. Nothing stops the little hummingbird. They fly on the windiest days...visiting my feeders and dive bombing each other. The other day, when wearing a red shirt, one of them came up to my face and just hovered there....here I was eye to tiny eye, sitting like a statue, so he wouldn't leave. I heard the first drops of rain, so I rushed :) to put the hanging basket out to get some water. It was starting to pick up...oh boy a rainy day, or so I thought.

I sat back down and gazed around the neighborhood.  The lawns are starting to show stress from no rain...they would get a good soak today, I thought. My roses were nodding with the drops of rain hitting them. The leaves were all spotted with raindrops. I wanted to go to the mailbox to get the paper, but just sat there...not wanting to get wet. The wind picked up a little and it was getting darker. A few of the regular walkers went by...hurrying with their dogs. The dogs wanting to stop at my mailbox, but since I was out on the porch...their owners tugged them away. No school buses today for school is out for summer vacation. The rain picked up a little...maybe we would be in for a rainy day. An all day rain would be nice.

It was stop and go for the showers. More stop than go. The little chipmunk ran across in front of me. He chattered when seeing me sitting there...he was startled and fled to the evergreens. I could hear him rummaging through the dried leaves under there. That's where the snake hangs out...be careful little one, I think.

By now Joe was up and in the kitchen making coffee. He asked if the rain was doing any good...would it continue to rain. I hadn't heard the forecast...so I couldn't answer. I made my coffee...decaf, and went into the computer room to write this. What is that bright light coming from the window? Oh, no....it's the sun...and I had hopes of a day in the house with rain falling outside. Well, at least I don't have to water the tomatoes...I think that they might have gotten enough rain. I do hope we get rain again this afternoon. Oh, Mother Nature you are such a tease.

What I would DO to have a hummer sit near me or upon me ... great pics, beautiful share.

I woke up to a much needed gentle rain here this morning. Like you I am much hoping that it will stay around the day so the ground can soak it up. Fingers crossed here that the sun will not come out today.

I know the feeling, Balisha. I have waited many times for the big rainstorm, only to get nothing but a drop or two. I hope you get more rain tonight.

I think I would be fearful of a hummer right in my face. Those little things scare me at least a dozen times each summer!

I love the little hummers. I set out feed in my hummingbird feeders all summer.

We could use some rain here too.

We have hummingbirds going back and forth between two trees this year. I think they have a nest in one of them. This reminds me that I have to make some more juice for them. We have a feeder in the back, in full sun and in the front, in the shade. The shady one is by far the most popular.
