We did some reminiscing early Father's Day.... talking about our own Dads and then about Father's Day with our kids. We laughed about the many clay ash trays that the kids made in school in those days. The little kid would give dad the ashtray and stand there looking so cute...hoping that it was just the right gift for Dad. Bottles of after shave, flashlights, chocolate covered peanuts, a picture for the fridge, etc were popular gifts. I wonder if little kids take delight in making or buying just the right gift today? I have a feeling that Mom's help out a bit and they settle for a gift card.
Yesterday was spent celebrating Father's Day at home. Joe's two boys were here...one in the morning with his family and the other later on for dinner. I think that Joe had a nice time visiting, talking about the old days, eating my simple meal and then watching the new DVD of Il Divo that I gave him for Father's Day. We had a simple picnic type meal...BBQ's, potato salad, baked beans, relishes, two dips and chips. Chocolate cake for dessert. After they left, we cleaned up a bit and sat down to watch the boxing match that we had taped, and then the US Open. It was a wonderful day...not to hot and not much work for me. Dads all over were king for a day.

That's great! We had a good Father's day service at church. I'm glad Joe enjoyed himself.
We had a nice Father's Day service on Saturday night. Our Priest kind of let Mother's Day go by the wayside, but he did a great job on Father's Day.

Sounds as if you had a lovely time. We had Mum and Dad round for lunch. It was really nice. Jx
Glad to hear you both had a good FD. Interesting that the Priest sort of ignored MD...I wonder if he got some complaints, so made sure to talk about Father's Day.
We had a BBQ meal, too. I think a lot of fathers had that for dinner.
Glad you had a wonderful Father's Day. Our priest always makes a big event out of Mother & Father's Day ... he is wonderful.

Have a lovely day ~
