A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Christmas Ambiance

A little tiff started out our evening last night. Joe had worked hard all day on business things and I had worked hard on household chores....we were both tired. As I came into the living room, I turned on the light next to where I was going to sit. I got a "look" from Joe. I busied myself with my Christmas lists...letters to write, grocery lists for today's shopping. I planned to do these things while watching TV. I just started to write and I heard..."Balisha, do you have to do that right now?" He went on to say that we needed a "little Christmas ambiance" The tree was lit, the lights had been turned off, his bubble lights were bubbling, and Michael Buble was just starting his Christmas special on TV. I had been trying all week to get the letters done and last night seemed like a perfect night to finish my cards. I've been doctoring for a muscle pull in my back and I haven't been up to speed on my Christmas plans. The housework has been let go for a few days. I was feeling pressured and just wanted to get it all done, while I felt good. I went into the breakfast nook and finished my jobs...I could still hear the Christmas music from the adjoining living room. When I was finished, I came in and sat for the rest of the evening, in the living room. We left the lights off and enjoyed the pretty house and some music shows.
This morning I thought a little more about last night. It's Christmas time...it isn't here for long. We put our tree up so it would make the house pretty. Who knows if we will be here next year to enjoy all these things? I have to say that I was wrong. I was being stubborn and just thought about my point of view.Sometimes I think that I get so wrapped up in the busyness of it all that I forget to enjoy what I have accomplished. Today, I'll get things done early...maybe put off a few things until tomorrow...tonight we'll have some "Christmas ambiance."

I bet your husband will be delighted to have you sit with him tonight. You are correct in saying the season is short, so you must take a little time to enjoy it.

Ah Balisha. Life is so short and tenuous. It's not worth it to spend any of our time arguing. At our age, everything can turn on a dime. One moment you're having dinner with your kids and the next you are calling in Hospice.

I try to remember that the Christmas season is so short. That is why we downsized this year. As I brought things out to decorate..I asked myself, "Will you want to pack it away in January?" Our house is just the way we like it...perfect for us. Last night, my light was off, but Joe's was on...he was reading the paper :)
