A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Things I'm Thinking About

How can you not love a little face like this one? I was in the basement, getting some things out of the freezer and felt like someone was watching me. I went over to the window and there, sitting on our goose's head was this little creature. He waited till I went upstairs for my camera...to have his picture taken. He posed, having his back to me, then his side, then a full view of his face. I tapped on the window, to get him to move...and he just stayed there. They do strike the cutest poses in our yard....teetering on the swinging birdfeeder, balancing (with a full mouth of seed) on the deck rail, sitting on the wooden bear's head, sitting on a chair on the front porch. This spring found Joe and I watching one of their babies trying, for the first time, to get to the bird feeder on the deck. They must know that they are cute. They don't seem to bother the birds at the feeder...they just munch away, ignoring the birds. Walt Disney had a talent for making these little creatures come to life. I guess, because I have always been a big Disney fan...I will forever think of them as Chip and Dale, and baby deer...I call Bambi. I guess being retired, we have time to notice little things going on in our yard. Simple things like these little creatures keep us amused, when others our age are bored with their lives. I'm looking forward to trying a new suet this winter..new to me at least. I found it just the other day...it's called Zick dough. Named after Julie Zickefoose http://juliezickefoose.blogspot.com/2010/03/zick-dough-improved.html. I asked Joe where I could buy chicken starter in Rockford...he had a worried look on his face. "You aren't thinking of raising chickens...are you?" If I lived on a farm..I would. No, I need it for my suet. Bluebirds have stopped here in spring and fall...I would love for them to visit more often, so I'm going to try this dough. It's something to look forward to. Just yesterday, my neighbor Bryce was over visiting. He sat in the grass and we talked about a number of things. One being, his not looking forward to school starting. He said, "The summers are just so short." I told him that, when I was a girl, it seemed to go on forever. I told him that I had a theory about that. When we were young, we hardly went anywhere...we could just play in our neighborhoods, make believe, lie in the grass and see cloud formations...a simpler time. Now...kids have plans that take them away from their homes most everyday. Ball games, water parks, amusement parks, camps for boys...baseball and track and girls cheer leading. They are always looking forward to something...not staying home to use their imaginations. Because of this...they are making time fly. Many adults are the same way...they build these beautiful homes and then can't wait to leave them. People have to fill every hour of the day with a planned event. No one is content it seems. They are always looking to the weekend and the plans that they have made...to fill every hour, it seems. Boy, I got way off the topic of my post, but that's the way it is sometimes. Things just flow into my head and I put it down here. Thanks for reading...
