A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Balisha's Iced Coffee

This promises to be another hot day here in No. Illinois. We do all kinds of things to keep cool. We get out and do our gardening early, shop early, run errands early...so we can just be in the air conditioned house the rest of the day. When afternoon rolls around I like to take a rest and sip on something cool and refreshing. I mentioned iced coffee yesterday and I thought I would tell you my easy way of making it.

I keep my coffee from breakfast in the refrigerator. Then in the afternoon I take a pretty clear glass or cup (we should treat ourselves well...shouldn't we?) and fill it with ice. Take the chilled coffee and pour some into the cup...maybe a little more than half full. Then I add a splash of milk...(a healthy splash.... or you could be decadent and use cream...yum!) I found a new coffee sweetener this year...it is flavored with chocolate and coconut. It tastes like an almond joy candy bar. I put in some of that...like you would for a cup of coffee. Stir it in and then the fancy part......a mound of whipped cream with chocolate sprinkles. Now don't get me wrong...I almost never add the whipped cream and sprinkles, but it's so pretty to have for company. Almost like a dessert. You could make it lowfat too. They have flavored creamers for coffee that are lowfat...you could use skim milk, and cool whip comes in low or no fat. Now, I challenge anyone to make me a cup, using one of those fancy coffee pots...that tastes better than this. It took me minutes to prepare and really is a special treat for summer. Enjoy!

WOW Everything looks wonderful over here. I did not recognize your place. New header and all. That coffee sounds like a great idea for these lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. I have been busy planning Tater's birthday party at my house. We had it Monday night. He has told me every time he got out of the car here for month, "I'm gonna be 4". When he got out the other night, the first thing he said was, "I'm 4 now". lol. Guess he thinks he is grown. Sounds like you may have some coons drinking from your bird feeders! My sister used to put beer in dishes by her flowers. She said it would kill slugs. I was visiting late one evening, looked out and 4 coons were having happy hour drinking the beer. It was so funny! It has been in the 90s every day here. I am already watering flowers outside and my tomato plants don't look too good. Hope you two are doing well. The grotto looks beautiful.

Yum, That coffee looks good! I have never seen the Almond Joy creamer. I do buy that brand of vanilla creamer. Maybe Almond Joy is a test run in your area. They are my favorite candy bars, so I hope we get that creamer soon!

I also use a clear glass coffee mug when I am having a "special" sweetened coffee in the afternoon. The treat just seems sweeter in a fancy mug.

Thanks, Judy...I decided that I needed some of my flowers in my header. That little one of yours is growing fast. Remember these days...they go so fast.

Hi Patsy...I wish you could come for coffee...I'd take you out back and show you the "touch me nots" that are growing in a big container. Thanks again for the seeds...I'll post a picture when they bloom. Love hearing about your chickens.

Hi Zoey, Isn't that the truth about a fancy cup? I pick out a favorite tea cup of my Mom's too when I have tea. Seems so silly to have these pretty things and not use them

Hi Margie...How long was the power out? Maybe because of everyone using air conditioners. We are expecting the weather to go from the 90's down to the 70's this evening...so we'll probably have a storm.
Thanks for your nice comment..Balisha
