A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Our Special Evening

It's a beautiful day here today. One of those days when you just want to walk around your gardens, take some pictures, sit on the porch and read some magazines....but that's not what I'm going to be able to do. We are heading for the ear doctor today. Joe got some hearing aids and needs to have them adjusted. I'll be home this afternoon, however, so maybe I'll be able to just laze around then.

We went to dinner last night, with our Priest. There were ten of us at his home...enjoying cocktails and appetizers. We found out that we were to travel to a restaurant for the rest of the meal. We ate at an Italian restaurant in our town. We had wonderful food...prepared especially for Father by the chef. First we had a salad that was wonderful...full of lettuces, red onions, slivered carrots, green olives, ripe olives, tomatoes and sausage on the top. Next came the pasta. It was a homemade pasta...wide noodles with sauce and parm. cheese and a sprinkling of fresh basil. I ate my fill and was ready for dessert, but no...there was more food coming. A plate full of food! A steak, cooked to perfection....two pieces of breaded Blue Marlin, mixed squashes and baskets of warm Italian bread served with olive oil. I couldn't finish...so my food was put in box to take home. Dinner must be over...right? No, the chef came out and told Father he had prepared a special dessert for us. The dessert was brought to the table...generous slices of a moist lemon cake baked with fresh strawberries in the batter. The filling was a marscapone cheese filling with fresh strawberries, and the topping was a meringue type frosting with strawberries over the top. The food was exquisite and service was wonderful. We were screened off from the rest of the diners...so it was very private. I think that the chef and his staff did an excellent job and the celebration of our Priest's 9th year in the Priesthood was so special. We enjoyed ourselves and ended the evening with so many laughs...it was hard to leave. So, today we are eating light..maybe tomorrow too.

I have to leave now...I hope you all have a great day.

Hi Jean...You could have rolled me out of the restaurant after that meal. I felt miserable that night.
I got an email from Mona and she told me a bit about her daughter's surgery and asked if I could keep on praying for her.I don't want to put anymore here...do you want to share your email address?

Hi Barbee...I had just seen that very same cake on the Martha Stewart show. I love anything lemon and was really disappointed that it came at the end of that big meal. Wish we could have started with it :)

Hi Ernestine...The evening was really fun. A nice mix of people. He is so down to earth and really enjoys socializing with his Parish people. We will have a Taste of Nigeria soon. He has some Nuns fixing the Nigerian food and there will be Nigerian clothing and dancing. It should be fun.
