A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Our Meal Today

I put the rest of the turkey and dressing in the freezer this morning. We have had our fill of it and I really don't want to eat anything in the poultry family just now. We were at a restaurant yesterday and when we walked in the door I said to Joe, "Guess what the special is today? Turkey dinner with all the trimmings." Groan. We had a veggie stir fry with just water to drink. I ate about half of mine and brought the rest home to reheat (which I never seem to do.)
Margie http://margie-miller.blogspot.com/2010/12/busy-wednesday.html suggested that I put my menus down for each day. I think that I will just do the main meal. We have a freezer full of meat, so I have to use that. I used Italian sausage today. I cooked two links in one fry pan and put a red and yellow pepper in another pan along with a red onion. I cooked these in a small amt. of olive oil until tender. Then I cut up the sausage and put the veggies in. I added a half can of chopped tomatoes and some black beans. I used several herbs...Italian seasoning, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. No salt... Then I started a pot of water boiling and cooked some orzo. When it was done...I added a pat of butter and pepper and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. I piled it on a dinner plate with the sausage mixture around it. Italian green beans, a green salad and a glass of red wine. This was quite a change for my "meat and potatoes man" We both liked it, We had half of it left over and when I did the cleaning up...I found that we had only eaten 1 of the sausages. I told him, "My job is done. Whatever we put in our mouths the rest of the day is our own doing." I went to the store this morning and bought fresh pears, apples, and oranges. We started this cutting down before the holidays. I thought that we would have this in our minds when we are tempted to eat (or bake) too many cookies, pies, and those heavy meals.

Your meal looks delicious!

I can't believe a restaurant would offer a turkey dinner as a special after everyone has been eating it for 6 days!

Your dinner looks good. I'm always too lazy to cook good meals for myself. One more night of turkey and it'll be gone! Jean

Beautiful meal photos! Maybe the restaurant was banking on the few people who didn't get a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
