Today's Thoughts

The sun is playing an in and out game with us today. The weather is cool and super windy. The winds are howling... just like they do during a blizzard. This time of the day is so pretty. The winds are dying down and the cloudy sky has more openings for the sun to peep through. Our winds were so strong that trees were uprooted in some towns. I could hardly walk in a straight line... going out to get the mail. The wind chimes were parallel to the ground. Things that weren't secured went flying across into neighbor's yard. Birds were having trouble navigating the feeders. Well, you get the picture. Not a nice day to be out cleaning up the yard. Joe is getting antsy to get things moved in the garage and to clean the big grill before it gets put away. He's even making noises about putting up the Christmas tree. Good grief...it's only the end of October. I've been busy all day cleaning under beds and moving small furniture out to vacuum and dust. I wish that I could have just opened the windows and let the wind in to do my work. I was tired so I took chili out of the freezer for our meal. Nothing like a bowl of chili on a cool day with the wind blowing. I wanted to take one last picture of my Mums across the front of the house. They are so pretty right now. Tomorrow...I promise. The perennials that I planted, got a good soaking with the rain that came down. We had the trees fertilized and today the lawn was mowed for, maybe, the last time. The leaves in our yard have disappeared. They went blowing down the street. I don't know where they ended up...maybe in the field down there. Our trees are bare in the yard.

Our Netflix choice arrived in the mail today and I am so anxious to see it. We'll watch it tonight. It is starring Hal Holbrook...one of my favorites. He could recite the newspaper and hold my attention. I love his voice.The 84-year-old Hal Holbrook, who received his first-ever Academy Award nomination last year for "Into the Wild" (the man has five Emmy Awards on 12 nominations, so no pity), they are talking Oscar for his performance, playing Abner Meecham, a widowed man who bolts from his nursing home one day to return to his east Tennessee farm not knowing that his son has rented the house to a family.

Well, that's about it from our house. I'll tell you more about the movie tomorrow, if we don't blow away.
