A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Something Fresh and New for God's House

This morning I had to make a salad for a funeral lunch at our Church. I was to make a green salad. I used a small head of iceberg lettuce, 1 head of butter lettuce, and a bag of field greens. I mixed them all together and then decorated with slices of cucumber, fresh from the garden tomatoes, red onion rings, black olives, little cubes of cheddar, and sprinkled the top with Italian seasoning, sea salt, and fresh ground pepper. I put croutons in a baggie, and took a bottle of salad dressing from the shelf. It was to be a big funeral so we needed lots of food. As I went into the Church hall, lots of other people were bringing hot and cold dishes. The parking lot was filling up and I moved my car, so someone could park there. I walked around to the front of the Church to see if anything new had been put on the double doors. Our committee has been so busy this year that the front doors have been forgotten. I decided to do something about it. I went back into the Church and got in the storeroom. I carried the big plastic tote with flowers out to my car. I got home and spread these things out on the table. Nothing new....the same old things. I could make it look new with a different combination of flowers. There were some twiggy, viney things that were supposed to hang sideways. I looked at them and wondered...could they go up and down? That's what I did. I put liatris, marigolds, some purple filler flowers, tore the leaves off some hydrangeas, and topped it all with a star gazer lily. A bunch of raffia finished it off. A little later, Joe and I will drive over to Church and hang them on the doors. Just the thing to brighten the entry way. Just the thing to entertain me for a couple of hours. I always feel better when I make something to welcome people to our Church. It's the first thing they see, when they get out of their cars. Welcome to all....come in.
