An Arrangement From My Yard for February

Here is my "bouquet" for February.
Yesterday I mentioned that Noelle http://www.azplantlady.com/ came up with an idea of making an arrangement a month...using plant material from our yards. I thought it was a great idea. It gave me something creative to do on yet another cold day with snow. I looked out my windows to see what I could use. I couldn't see very much, so I decided to get my boots on and trudge out to the woods. Not much was usable, however. Things were really beaten down by the snows we've had. The seed heads had mostly been devoured by the hungry birds. There were places where animals had spent the night...all matted down. There were tracks everywhere. I brought my camera and a pair of clippers...I just started clipping. Some of these weeds had dried leaves on them and I just cut them off. I brought them into the house and took off my coat. I got a strange look from Joe. Put the weeds on my kitchen counter and got to work. I decided that the weeds didn't have much color, so I would use a colorful container. I looked overhead and saw my collection of granite coffee and tea pots. I chose a blue one and just started putting things together. I finished it off with a raffia bow on the handle. Please enlarge the picture. Now I needed to take a picture. I needed a background that wasn't busy or cluttered.. I got an idea. What could be better than the carpet of snow outside? So, I took the arrangement out and put it on the undisturbed yard. Here is the finished product. I really wanted to add some more colorful things to it, but the object of the whole project is to use things in our yards. I'll be posting another picture next month...by then I'll have more to work with. I really enjoyed making this...just to see what I could do with a few weeds. Why don't you give it a try?

Beautiful! I have some nature dried purple coneflower heads in a bag right now. I cut them and brought them into the house before the winter snow started. I couldn't bear to part with them, but I also couldn't figure out what to do with them. Your arranagement is terrific! Thanks for sharing your talent with us. Blessings.

Balisha,

I love your February Bouquet! It is beautiful with all of the textures that are so indicative of winter. What a great idea to use snow as a background. I am looking forward to seeing your March Bouquet :^)

What a great idea! Some of your flower heads do look like Pink Daisies or Echinacea. They grow very well around here in Texas and I cut the seed heads in the fall and put them in a plastic bag, like you get at the grocery store...so there is plenty of air movement. I could probably make an arrangment with the durn honeysuckle. It is very invasive around here.

Can't wait to see what your arrangement is next month.

Hi Balisha...I am trying to catch up!
It looks very, very winter. The only color you could have possibly added might have been berries...do you have berries back there in winter like we do here? It seems like there are berries on everything lately. The birds LOVE it ..but a lot of times they are berries the birds in all their knowledge KNOW not to eat. I wish my Mele was as smart as the birdies...she eats them and then gets sick!
Hugs to you...I am off to read some more of your blog.
