A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Please Help Haiti

These are the faces of Haiti today.

Just look at that face. These are the innocents that we must take care of.

Look at the sadness on this little boy's face.

I almost feel selfish...going on with my normal activities. Tonight the pictures on the news were so tragic. I watched the children's faces...always the children...who were so frightened and suffering. There was a young girl in a plaid skirt jumping up and down in agony and screaming. One of her classmates was on the ground, dying. Little boys and girls with huge eyes and dirty faces ... no adults with them. This was the scene in early pictures from Haiti. Planes dropped food and medical supplies on the airport tarmack, but no one could reach them because of transportion problems. Sniffer dogs, high-energy biscuits and tons of emergency medical aid were heading to Haiti on Wednesday as governments and aid groups launch a massive relief effort for the estimated 3 million people reeling from a devastating earthquake, according to the Associated Press. As aid officials in the impoverished Caribbean nation work to clear rubble from roads, build makeshift hospitals and remove bodies from the rubble, many people are wondering what they can do to help. Soon there will be disease and many of these little ones will die. President Obama has promised them anything that they need. Our country is in a financial mess, but at times like this...we must help.He was busy today running between an 8 hr meeting on health care and meetings about this crisis. No sleep for this man who has taken on the suffering of the world. No one can tell me that he is not doing his job. He has a job to do that is astronimical....more and more problems for him to think about and try to solve. It is our Christian duty to take care of our brothers and sisters. We all can help...no matter how small we think our contribution is.Here are some addresses for you to contribute. Please help these little ones. They are so frightened.

When things like this happen, I try to put myself in the position of those folks ...... I just can't this time. It is inconceivable what must be going on there.

Thank you for posting those links, Balisha. I just said to my hubby, with tears streaming down my face, that the devastation is of such magnitude that you can't even imagine it if you try. That even though I've never been to Haiti and probably never will be, it's seeing the human condition that creates such pain. Parents without children, children without parents, husbands without wives. They love as we love, fear as we fear, bleed as we bleed. It's all just so...unfathomable. :(

It's a terrible tragedy! We have thousands of church members in Haiti too. Our church has sent $25,000 immediate relief money and more will come. We are taking up a special offering on Sunday for Haiti.

It's hard to see the kind of suffering that's going on there Balisha.

I have Haitian-American friends with family and friends still there. They are so worried, and so frustrated not being able to be there to help in person. They are among the most giving, generous, self-sacrificing people I know. I can't tell you how many times I've seen them stop to help total strangers in distress.

They have been such a strong influence on me, and are role models of unselfish, self-sacrificing generosity and compassion.

As if seeing the images from Haiti wasn't enough to provide ample motivation to help, the beautiful spirits of my friends motivate me even more to do all I can to help.

Impossible for any of us in this country to imagine the scope of this tragedy which is happening in one of the poorest countries in the world. Thanks for supplying those resources.

Thank you, Balisha. All we can do is what we are doing. Contribute and pray for them. Our President makes me proud. So do people like you.
Take good care.
