A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Maybe I'll Just Read a Book

Looking our my window this morning I see a frozen world. Snow covers everything. The sun is out, but the temperature is 6 degrees. An email from Joe's brother telling about 26 below in Minnesota. I guess we don't have it so bad. I got my Christmas decorations out, gradually this year. Little by little I brought them up the stairs and took fall things down.....and this is the way I will take "Christmas" down. I like to leave the trees up until the middle of the month, but the small decorations will be put away starting today. My dining room table is full of things to go downstairs....the only problem is me. I have no desire to do the work. I want to sit and read or knit or paint or cook or just watch the birds. I need to get motivated. Do you get a cleaning bug when someone is coming over to visit? I do...always have. I get a rush of brain activity...hang up the phone....some one's coming.....make some food.....clean the bathroom.... change my clothes.....tidy up. It feels good to rush around in anticipation of someone coming to visit. I need that today. If a friend were to call, that dining room table would be cleared in 20 minutes. It's not going to happen. It's too cold for visiting. Our friends are holed up in their homes. They may venture out for milk and bread, but scramble to their cars and rush back to their cozy homes. So, I'll have to find another way to motivate me.....or maybe I'll just read a book.
I just finished my "summer" book called Barefoot, by Elin Hildebrand. I didn't read it in the summer though. I started it after my surgery. It was an easy read...as they say. It was about three women and their lives on Nantucket Island, one summer.
I just started reading Whistlin' Dixie in a Nor' Easter, written by Lisa Patton, last night.
In her first novel, Lisa Patton paints a hilarious portrait of life in Vermont as seen through the eyes of a southern belle. I love "little" books like this. You don't have to think...just the thing for a day like this.

Hello Balisha,

I think it is perfectly okay to just rest and read a book after all of the busyness of Christmas and New Year's. So, put your feet up...and I will try to do the same and ignore the storage boxes waiting for me to finish 'un-decorating' my house ;-D

I wish I could get back to reading again. For some reason I stopped and can't seem to do it much any more. ;-(
Happy New Year to you and your family.

And if you want to read you should. I have rested the last few days and have loved it! The house and decorations will wait. Would like to have more of it, but off to a wedding tonight...in a blizzard..really, what happened to summer wedding. The book looks like a good read! Enjoy!

I read almost every day. I am now tired of reading and need to do something productive..like clean closets.

This is my favorite time of the year to read. Right after Christmas, when we all get new books. Just to sit with them piled next to us on the table...we get to select the one that we wish to read first. Bliss!
