A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A First Blog

I'm going to start blogging now...I'm ready to go. This is very depressing for us and I want to get out of my mood and the best way I can think of is to blog. Since I'm confined to my house..I will just try to forget all my troubles and just let go. This morning, going into Rockford the fields were covered with a mist and the big red sun was coming up. I told Joe..."Look at the sun," He said, "Balisha...I'm driving and have to concentrate on the road." Things are more wonderful to me now.... More beautiful to me. There's a new wonder in my world....and it's in technicolor.
Today I received a huge beautiful mum plant. It is rust colored and full of buds. It's from good friends. In the hospital I received roses, a mixed bouquet, and a basket of green plants. I'm always glad to get a basket of mixed green plants....they pack so many into the basket, so that while growing ...they crowd the basket and need to be transplanted. I will have green plants all over the house. I got a gourd shaped vase holding a green and yellow speckled plant. Not sure what it is. This winter will be spent watering and caring for my collection.

I'm going out to water my plants by the driveway. I have been sitting on the porch listening to the bees buzzing in my flowers. The humming birds are busy rushing back and forth from the feeders. If I close my eyes...I can hear the sounds of nature all around me. The robins are gone, the chickadees have taken their place. Chickadee..dee..dee they say. They are busy little birds flitting to and fro in the yard. Swooping in for a seed and flying back to the woods. Here's a little poem about a chickadee.

The Chickadee

The chickadee is very small..

Swooping in for seeds this fall.

They pick a seed and fly away..

To the woods they like to play.

Back and forth, oh little one..

Little song for me to hum.

Chickadee.. dee.. dee is how it goes..

It thrills me so from head to toes.

My heart is full of wondrous things. It spills over with emotion.

Balisha and Joe my heart aches for you both. I have only known you for a year yet I feel like we have been best of friends forever. I never knew bloging would bring me so much pleasure and new friendships. Our pet families mean so much to us it is so hard when they are ill. I am praying for you all...

You look wonderful and I can't believe how quickly you are recovering.

I guess the news about Laddie isn't good. I'm sorry.

I LOVE hearing that little dee, dee, dee talk in the trees when I'm outside. There is something calming about the sounds of nature, I think.

Oh yes, it's important to see (and hear) the beauty in our surroundings. Some people never see (hear) it, but you, my friend, I KNOW you've always heard it.
Speedy recovery.

I am glad you are feeling well enough to begin blogging again. We all look forward to hearing about your gardening and reading your poetry. Isn't it funny how the difficult patches in life often give us a different perspective on life! It is like all your senses are newly heightened. Perhaps hard times awaken a strength and sensitivity within us that ordinary days begin to dull. We should all remember to celebrate the sunrises and sunsets we encounter. Each truly is a gift from God. Blessings to both of you.

Welcome back, Balisha! It's so good to hear the optimism in your voice, though you've been struck another blow. I hope that Laddie pulls through. Sometimes it takes a crisis of some sort to "wake us up", so to speak. It's not that we didn't have an appreciation for the beauty of life before...I think it just becomes a little more keenly honed. Continue your good work!
