A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

The Farmers's Market

It's Saturday morning and time for our little farmer's market. I stopped by for tomatoes, but I was out of luck. They were gone early. By next week, we hope to have a few of our own. We only have about 6 stalls of people selling everything from jams to zucchini. This week we had a wood carver. This man was full of tales about Indians, wood, knives and carving. I bought a few things from him....for birthday and Christmas presents. I learned a little about wood and carving. He was really quite interesting. When I got home I told my husband about the old man selling wooden things. Then I laughed...he's probably younger than me. I always think I'm 35 until I look in the mirror. The market was getting ready to shut down, by the time I got there. It's a fun thing to do on a Saturday morning in a small town. Most of these people aren't farmers. Some are from our neighborhood..from their little gardens in their backyards.I have been disappointed in apples from the grocery lately. No flavor...I bought Paula Reds from a woman. I love it when they take their product and with a paring knife...give you a sample. These apples were crisp...tart...sweet and beautiful. They are getting cold in my frig....so I can have one tonight. (with a little peanut butter :)
So, that's it for this Saturday. I came home and watched my cooking shows and got ready to create something for dinner today. I love to cook and these shows are really inspiring to me. Especially the one from America's Test Kitchen and then my personal kitchen hero Jacques Pepin. He inspires me to try new ingredients and condiments. Love him....I've watched him for years and have his cookbooks. He makes cooking an art and it's all so easy to follow him in the kitchen.

I love farmer's markets. It is so wonderful to actually be able to talk to the person who has grown the food. Come to think of it, I may enjoy the conversation as much as the food. A morning at the market is definitely better than one spent in the grocery store. Blessings to you.

Good morning Balisha, I don't recognize that market. I've visited the one at Khlems on Monday afternoons and the ones at Main and Auburn and in downtown Winnebabo.

Have you seen Julie/Julia yet? That inspired me. I'm on the lookout for a used copy of Julia Child's book.

Very few sellers, but such nice people to visit with. I always hear some new things and some stories.
