A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Unconditional Love

Here is a birthday present that I got for my hubby. I sent a picture and the company made this throw. It looks exactly like the picture. This dog is his pride and joy. He's going to be 12 yrs. old.
They have quite a mutual admiration society. You can see the love in Laddie's eyes...he just melts when my hubby talks to him. Laddie was here way before I came into the picture and he has learned to love me as well. A little story: I play a game with him at night, while we are watching TV. Sometimes he wants to play with his toys and I just want to watch TV. He goes and gets a soft animal and lies on the floor in front of the TV. He looks at me as if to say, "Do you want to play?" I feel bad if I don't respond....so I silently, while watching TV tap my chair and give him a look. He looks quizzical, and then touches his toy. I tap my knee....he looks the same. I mouth good boy....he cocks his head, I pat the cushion...he tilts his head. I say silently... bring me the toy. He really doesn't know what to make of it. He stays right there and just makes these motions with his head....never moving or making a sound. It can go on for half an hour. Last night we went through this routine, me tapping and mouthing bring me the toy...then patting the cushion and doing the same. He was holding his panda. Finally he slowly got up and went to his toy basket, leaving the panda behind and brought a monkey and just laid it on my lap and went back to lie down with his panda. It was like he knew that I wanted a toy, but he didn't want to give up his panda. He is just the sweetest dog and gives us so much pleasure. He's right here on the floor, while I am typing this. I think that he knows it's about him...LOL
We pet owners are so lucky to share our lives with these wonderful creatures. They give us unconditional love and depend on us. We do our best to take proper care of them. As they get older...we have to treat them like senior citizens. They still like to play from time to time and we feel guilty if we don't want to do the same. Tonight I'm going to play with him...I will show him unconditional love.

I agree. Our Slinky is smart as that too.

Laddie is a lovable softie alright. He never is in a bad mood... and though he has a sad look... I know he's happy. He just begged for my last bite of yogurt.

He's a beautiful dog. When they have been with you for so many years it's almost like they read your mind.

There is nothing like a dog... What a beauty you have there. Don't know what we would do without ours...

Such a pretty and sweet looking dog, Laddie. I know your husband will love that throw you had made. It is so nice and they did such a good job. I remember the first time I met my mother-in-law. She immediately said to me, "Watch what you say around Tip because he understands every word you say"! Tip was their border collie. I thought to myself she must be crazy! I found out after marrying her son that Tip was one smart dog.

I miss having dogs. Always had them when I lived in the country.
Lost little Sadie in September. The first thing I will do when I move is make a home for several dogs. He is beautiful and has such soulful eyes.
