A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Winter Snowfall

The 18th of December

The weather report was on all day long..

The stations were singing the same winter song.

A storm was approaching our sleepy city...

The roads would be covered - no school, what a pity.

The 19th of December

We woke up this morning to a world of white...

The view from our window was a beautiful sight.

Joe's feeling poorly and I am just well...

How would we shovel..only time will tell.

Out came the machine and he fired it up...

I watched him work, and so did the pup.

I grabbed a shovel and threw some snow...

Gave him a hand with the puppy in tow.

The hummingbird nest we had worried about...

Hanging there on a branch without any doubt.

When spring is here and the birds come to call...

The nest will be safe here never to fall.

The job was all finished and tools put away...

We decided to rest till the end of the day.

A knock at the door was heard pretty soon...

We went to find out for it was near noon.

A beautiful bouquet was before our eyes...

A dear old friend had sent a surprise.

Our day was brightened by a friend's generous ways...

Merry Christmas and thanks, John, is what we both say.

Balisha

We actually got the flowers yesterday afternoon. We were really surprised. Then today, after all the cleanup, we got a package from Wine Country. Lots of cheese, crackers and all the fixings. My son and daughter-in-law sent this to us. We had something like this last year and saved it for New Year's Eve. We are doing the same this year. It's been a busy day for us. We actually saw some young boys out with shovels looking for snow shoveling jobs. That's a first for our neighborhood. Too bad they came after we were done.

You got snow, we got ice! When we were children that is how we made pocket money, with shovels in hand :)

Hi O'Mom,
I think we got 8 in. here. More to come over the weekend. Hope your ice didn't cause you a problem.
We used to shovel for our neighbors too. We always looked out for the old people in our neighborhood. They would have us in for cocoa.

Dear Balisha,

Photographs were not needed for this post. Your poem tells a story so well. I remember the days of snowblowers and shovels so well. You might not understand, but I miss it.

I hope your husband is feeling well. It's hard work pushing the snow out of the way.
