A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Fall Cleanup

I thought that I would take one final picture of my aster plant in the garden. It has been there for about 5 yrs. and gets bigger every year. People going by think it is a mum. It has been covered with bees these last weeks. I gave it a bit of water yesterday and swarms of them flew out. You sure wouldn't want to bend over and smell the pretty flowers. I do have to warn the kids about it, because they like to touch it. I will miss the color on the corner of our front yard.
I did my work in the woods yesterday. Weed wacked, picked up large branches, cut down lilies and other plants. I planted some phlox, that a friend gave me. Now I will have the pink ones on each end ot the area. The rose bush, that we transplanted, has new growth...so it transplanted well. I sat and rested looking at everything and making notes as to what I will do next year. Then I took white markers and marked where all the flowers are, so they won't get stepped on or cut down next spring. I didn't plant any bulbs this year. The critters love to dig them up and some of them eat what I plant. I guess they don't bother daffodils....I may change my mind and plant a few. I want to find some ground cover to put near my statue of St Francis. It's really shady in that area.... I filled the feeders and the bird bath..sat awhile and then came back to the house for lunch. I was tired. I did so much lifting and reaching, and I knew that I would hurt today, so I always take two tylenol and hook up the heating pad, and sit with it on my back during the evening. Today....no pain. I am blessed that at my age I can still do these fun things.

Your aster is gorgeous, I can see why you will miss the color. I no longer have a yard to clean up, but I can remember the aching muscles and sore back from when I did.

That aster plant is absolutely beautiful. I spend all my time raking in the fall of the year. Have been at it most of the day today. Like you, I will probably be sore tomorrow but I love getting outside.

My aster thanks you all from the bottom of her roots.

Gorgeous purple blooms on that Aster. It is a massive plant. :) You could divide it and have them elsewhere in the garden too.

Hi Racquel,
I think that I am going to have to divide it. It looks so pretty...I hate to touch it though. It sure is a bee magnet.
